I Am Not Reassured by Trump’s Words

I think Trump is downplaying the Corona Virus. He said (while sounding unwell himself) that there are 22 patients. What happened to the 62, we had from only a day or two ago. He said, if you’re healthy, and become infected, you’ll be fine. Tell that to the healthy young people’s loved ones, who died from it. The young whistleblower doctor for one, was only 32.

He keeps saying how well prepared we are, but the CDC still don’t have testing kits distributed around the country, and the first kits were defective. It doesn’t seem like well prepared to me, and we know at least one person in California and Oregon, are walking around with the virus infecting God knows how many others, who will then infect more, and so on. No, Mr. President, I am not reassured by your words, and will take precautions regardless.

These are dangerous times we live in.

So now these barbarians are fighting for us? I guess so. @BlueVeins
BlueVeins · 22-25
@Carissimi I don't support it, but it's certainly not new. We supported them against the Soviets, after all, and we've indirectly supported Al-Qaeda against the Houthis in Yemen.

I know. The bad guys are only bad if they are fighting against us, like the government funding ISIS in Syria. Funny how that works. I’m being facetious. @BlueVeins

The guy lies so much how can you trust even if he is genuine?
Therifleman · 31-35, M
@Carissimi he is worse in my opinion.
But still it doesn't help keep people calm and reassured if 99% of what a leader says is bullshit
Carissimi · F
I think he engages in hyperbole more than actual deliberate lies, but that’s my opinion. @Therifleman

@Carissimi that's fair I can't help laughing when he says he never met someone then pictures come out of him with them or claims he never said something despite there being footage of him.

But he isn't my leader so I don't have much of a say in it
TrunkZ · 56-60, M
I know, right? So now that someone in the US has died, now it is not a hoax? This doesn't seem like effective leadership.
TrunkZ · 56-60, M
@Carissimi Android here. This is a worrisome time and our.leadership just seems to be making it more worrisome.
eli1601 · 70-79, M
@TrunkZ Who died?
TrunkZ · 56-60, M
@eli1601 Woman in Washington state

My husband is a public health professional and he is nervous. They've also started controlling the flow of public information and that's never a good sign.
Carissimi · F
This is what I picked up from Trump’s update that he’s not being honest, and downplaying the potential severity of the problem. I understand they don’t want mass panic, but being dishonest is going to lose more lives than save them. @SwampFlower

@Carissimi It weakens legitimacy to admit where we are ill prepared. Anyone in power will try to cover their hiney. 🤷

The wrong time to compete with a candidate like Bernie Sanders is during a global health scare. Medical care for everyone sounds a lot better to people when they are afraid that they themselves might get sick.
