Hole in nail?

I know my nails look bad. But what causes this and what should I doo to help it?
LadyGrace · 70-79
There are a few other causes of nail pitting that are not related to psoriasis. They include: connective tissue disorders, such as Reiter's syndrome (a form of reactive arthritis), and osteoarthritis. autoimmune diseases, such as alopecia areata, sarcoidosis, and pemphigus vulgaris.

Treatment options

1. Antifungal treatment: This might be needed if there is also a fungal infection.

2. Steroid injected into the nail: This treatment can be painful.

3. Removing the nail: Nails can be removed either by using an ointment that takes 7 days to work, or surgically with a local anesthetic.

Don’t touch it! If you touch anything with strong chemicals or that could hurt it cover it up till you’re done. It needs time to grow out. Taking a high dose of biotin every day will help your nails grow faster and your body flushes out excesses of it so you don’t have to worry about if it’s too much(but only take one a day).

Stop biting your nails and eat some vitamin E. Almonds contain a lot of vitamin e and are excellent for restoring hair and nail strength

I’m not gonna help if you keep flipping me off.

@StevetheSleeve You noticed that, huh? Think it's possible I might be flipping people off to much is what's causing it? Lmao
StevetheSleeve · 31-35, M
@Unknown110 Hmm. That could be it. I’ll stop taking it personally.

Oh wow :( Is that painful? It looks painful.
Unknown110 · 26-30, F

It looks fungal to me. Cant be sure from ur pic. You can apply antifungal cream from drug store but it will be of minimal help because you cant get under the nail bed. They have medication that you need a prescription for that you have to take for 3 months. Apparently nail psoriasis is also a thing. But the pics I see online of nail psoriasis have discolored patches under the nail as well and pits in the nail.

@Unknown110 oh wow, it said that people with psoriasis are more likely than others to get nail psoriasis and that often holes and pits in the nail are caused by this so maybe that's what you have. Treatment seemed to be oral psoriasis meds, steroid injections under the nail beds, ultraviolet light therapy on nails. Your case looks extremely mild from the pic.

@REMsleep
this is my arm and about everywhere else is equally covered. As of lately it's been spreading pretty badly. Even with my lotions and slippery elm tea. It could easily be more psoriasis at this rate. Been figuring I'd go back to tanning to get it under control. But wasn't sure if it was lack of vitamins or what.

@Unknown110 How terrible. My husband has seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp which looks terrible and is very similar to psoriasis. The sun helps his scalp also. I had no idea that tanning helps calm psoriasis. Hope you can get this under control.
