Does yoga help with health?

In all seriousness, Yoga has been a life saver for me. I weighed over 300+lbs and was having all sorts of back pain that I could barely move. It started off with a simple 30 minute class and then it sort of took off from there where i felt like I could do more such as running and zumba on top of doing yoga. I have nearly lost 80+ lbs now thanks to Yoga

sorta... as usual it depends.

meditational breathing and stretching is enough.

you really need to consult a doctor, not everyone should do it due to any physical inapplicabilities one may suffer.

I would say, start off slow...there are a few good youtube ones that are just basic yoga poses to get your legs used to everything. My first yoga class my legs were shaking so badly.

I started to go just to strengthen my muscles a couple times a week but I noticed that I felt calmer and had less anxiety all the other days that I didn't even have it. I felt like even my breathing had changed. I wasn't expecting that and it was nice.

i think it depends on the person, any sort of repetitive, meditative exercise will help, and gentle stretching or massage can have the same effects as yoga or pilates. i've done yoga off and on for years, mostly at gyms, but to be honest, most of the instructors seemed like stern unhappy, inflexible (emotionally) people. but their bodies were super bendy.

Yes all kinds of exercise makes you healthier since you get stronger (as long as you don't overdo them).

I agree with jarjar and child's pose was my friend in the beginning.

It didn't help me!

I'm in my early 30s and the instructor of the class my wife and I went to was the sexiest woman I have ever seen. She must've been around 55 and just... Wow.

I asked her at the end of class one day what I could do to help with tension in my upper back between the shoulder blades, and she got down on the ground in front of me, on all fours and started arching & undulating her back while looking up over her shoulder at me from... that level while saying "this will make it feel much better"

I nearly died.
