Being fearful means you think there’s something might change if you just do the right things. There isn’t.
You can age gracefully, you can moisturize till the cows come home, you can make sure your face never shows any expression, but you can’t not age.
Like everything in your fridge, youth has an expiration date - although that date may vary considerably.
But I will tell you (I’m 74), that if you don’t fight and fret against any wrinkle and you don’t waste your youth mourning it before it happens, life is quite okay.
People still want your company, your humor, your grace. Sometimes they even want your body.
The question is not “will I age?” It’s HOW will I age?

I am not fearful of aging, I am more fearful of my body giving out on me. I am fearful of losing my health, becoming disabled, or unable to do normal life. I want to keep myself healthy for as long as possible. You can never go back on youth, but you can age gracefully and it's a mindset. I won't ever look like I did in my 20's but that's okay.
We all get older. I don't much like getting old but given the alternative I'll take it.
Keep a positive mental attitude. Have a healthy lifestyle; don't smoke, easy on the booze, exercise, eat a salad a couple of times a week. it's much better to be a healthy old man than being an unhealthy old man.

@badminton that's excellent advice.

Well, what are you gonna do ?
You can either obsess over it and stress urself out, (and prolly make urself ill with it).....or just roll with it.
You can choose, to define urself by youth. You can choose to accept this is the way of things.
Or....
.... rock the boat.
Be urself.
Age with grace ...or coolness.
Embrace age with pizzazz 💪
....or let it drown you in sadness of loss and inevitable entropy🤷♀
Yes - it sucks to lose ones youthful vigor.
But its also a gift to learn to live beyond it. To rely on ones character and uniqueness.
Which....when you think about it:
What good is beauty if its nothing but a hollow shell ?

@OogieBoogie Granted I've had more work done than just that and it was all for a better life. Nobody noticed me or wanted me as I was in the body and face I was given from birth so I worked hard and did a lot of undesirable things to get to where I wanted to be. Beauty opens a lot of doors probably more doors than I would have ever had available to me as I was.
OogieBoogie · F
@FutureIdol ok.
Just....beware those doors.
They dont always lead you to better places or people.
Beauty can be a curse.
It can be wonderful, but it can also be nothing more than competitive and stressul.
And this race youre running, of beauty....you cant outrun it.
Eventually life will take over, and time will win.
Im going to stop here.
There is so much more i could tell you, but ....its not pretty, ironically.
But i will say this: if the doors you want, and the people you desire are bourne from physical beauty....then you will end with having to be accountable tp yourself for those decisions.
And you will end.
We all end.
In my opinion, its about choosing a life, a character, that we can look back on and go - "yeah, im cool with that"

The key to staying young is staying healthy - have healthy habits, eat well, not junk. Exercise and stay active. Also, do what you can to reduce stress and stay happy. Stress and worry will age one fast. Staying active and enjoying family, friends, and life is key.

Sorry that you feel that way,

🤷🏼 You are going to be old
Whether you want to be old and grumpy or old and happy is up to you.
There are things you can do to offset aging like diet and exercise are still some of the best ways. Also limit stress and get plenty of sleep

Well, YES…aging for most ppl in middle age is what dr Attia calls the Four Horsemen: Cancer, Heart Disease, Diabetes, and Dementia. Unless you have exceptional genes, ur most likely to come down with at least one of those chronic, age related diseases. If u reach 75 without a chronic disease, congrats…u might make it to 100 and die of old age quickly and painlessly. Suggested reading: OUTLIVE.
FutureIdol · 31-35, M
@Wiseacre Dementia is what I'm afraid of because both my grandmas on both sides of the family had that. Both also had cancer one had skin cancer in a mole and the other leukemia both died in their early to mid 90s though.
HowtoDestroyAngels · 46-50, M
Sorry kid, that's life. Nothing to be ashamed of.
FutureIdol · 31-35, M
@HowtoDestroyAngels Unfortunately we live in a youth driven society so

At ur age I didn’t worry about it…yet!!@FutureIdol

35 was my best by date. I'm now over twice that... and it's no fun.
RedBaron · M
There’s no point fretting about it. It beats the hell out of the alternative.
But it happens fast. I’m 65, and it seems like I was 35 just a couple of years ago.

Too late -- I turned 75 last month. And to think I used to doubt I'd make it to 40.
Jonjdw · 51-55, M
I’m not afraid of it. I am 52.

@FutureIdol I don't have any meaningful career and the older I am the more difficult it's going to be to build it. Even getting a job is hard when you're old. The older you are the more society will show you that you're redundant and a burden to it. I think that the sooner we realize we're alone in this and that our own wellbeing is mainly in our own hands and start behave accordingly, the better for us.
FutureIdol · 31-35, M
@CrazyMusicLover Exactly it's a youth driven society and I swear once you turn a certain age you no longer have any value. Unfortunately I don't have a meaningful career either and I'm really beginning to think I never will. I can't get in anywhere.
Wiseacre · F
Yep, and we didn’t choose our genes, did we?@CrazyMusicLover
helsbels · 31-35, F
No, only fearful of when it stops
TigerLili · 46-50, F
At some point, you’ll either learn to accept it or start a GoFundMe for Botox
Popobandar4 · 26-30, M
Why fear something which you can't avoid
OogieBoogie · F
@FutureIdol whats wrong with being ignored?
I find that i need times of solace and my own space.
There is nothing like walking alone thru nature and seeping the beauty of in, in the silence.
...of mindlessly window shopping and people watching as you throng with the masses, but in a bubble of your own.
Dont get me wrong, people are great- they make you laugh and cry and bond....but they arent you.

Dude .. it beats the alternative
Wiseacre · F
@BrandNewMan wrong answer. How’d u want to live with chronic, age related diseases and slow death? The alternative is much better, imo.

@MsSwan How come not fearful?
@FutureIdol Because it happens to everybody, and there's nothing I can do to stop it. I'm just going to deal with it.
Monalisasmith86 · 41-45, F
You can have all the Botox and facelift all you like but on the inside you age regardless what you look on the outside
RosaMarie · 46-50, F
I mean, the alternative is to stop aging. You do have an even worse option.
