are you an old bastard like me?.....

my tv is kinda ^&*$ed ..... does one take it in to get fixed or does one just but a new one...
I think TV repair went to the wayside now with transistorized and circuit board electronics inside flat screens being so inexpensive. When CRTs and electron tubes went away, so did most of the TV repairmen.

I can repair it and have repaired the new stuff for myself

I am a cheap fucker, but I also have skills most don't have. I would repair myself if I can get parts.

I been working, building, repairing all kinds of transmitting equipment since before highschool. And yet I pick farming for a income.

@HumanEarth Are you secretly a Hobbit? 🤣🤣🤣

You should see the stuff I write down. There are no comedy clubs in my area. So one day I might have to try and find one somewhere else and just see how well I might do

These days new TV's are much cheaper than repairs plus with a new TV you'll be home watching it in an hour. Repairs will take weeks.
I think it's cheaper to replace.
Jeephikelove · 46-50, F
Just buy a new one
TheOthetAcc · 36-40, M

Get a new one.

You can go to Walmart and get a nice 48" flat screen for less than $200. Repairs can be costly.
When I left my ex....I had people offering me old TV's . Not fabulous ones , but they worked .
Id check out anywhere you can get them second hand, but even new ones are like half the price they were 5 or so years ago .

I was over at the local recycle center the other day and noticed a 40' steel bin parked beside the recycle dump site and inside that steel bin were about 50 TV sets of all shapes and sizes, some newer than the one I'm currently using. I then noticed in a Zehr's grocery store a TV display where they were flogging Citizen brand 26" TV sets for $99.00

You can buy a new TV set for almost the same cost as a pair of two-four's, eh!
Back in our day it was worth having someone fix our home electronics, because we paid a shitload of money for them and were built to last. I was actually going to go into the A/V repair business and took the basic class to get me started through a private run program. However it was discovered that I have red/green color blindness and couldn't continue. TBH, A/V repair is now obsolete as most specific vitntage/retro A/V parts are as rare as a hen's tooth, all home electronics are now cheap shit and disposable.
