I need to go to specialist in Malaysia to check my tinnitus NHS doesn't fund everything.

@OldBrit I am so sorry. Thank you for sharing.

@Arrow17 I have multiple tinnitus

I have a constant high pitch white noise like one predominantly to my right side. My left side, most effected by menieres and where I've had a operation to reduce the pressure from that, I have a reactive pulsating tinnitus. So lower in tone but much louder like a jet engine noise but pulsates or is reactive to noises around me. That's the one that at 3am some times is causes me the most distress.
Tinnitus may be the result of your brain creating the sensation of high-pitched sound when you lose the ability to hear those frequencies. I'm not aware of any treatment for it other than cognitive therapy to help you ignore it. At night, I use a mechanical white noise generator. Some people prefer apps that can generate sounds like wind rushing through trees, ocean waves breaking, thunderstorms, etc.

@LeopoldBloom Thank you for the suggestion. I can go to swim on the beach everyday or go out more so I may use less mobile devices.
@Arrow17 This is what I use.

One thing you can do yourself to improve the condition is to buy a GOOD ear wax removal kit. Ear wax contributes to the condition.

Also, eat lots of fresh pineapple. It contains bromelain, an enzyme with anti-inflammatory properties, which may help to alleviate tinnitus.

@4meAndyou i will ask doctor to do it for me

@4meAndyou

I had my ears vacuumed out lately. Had minimal effect on the tinnitus
4meAndyou · F
@Thrust Yes, sometimes it's just caused by damage to the ears. BUT...if you ALSO have ear wax build up, it is worse.
Lostpoet · M
There's actually a dietary pill that you can take I don't remember the name of it but it helped me.
Arrow17 · F
@carpediem I have to consult with the specialist doctor
carpediem · 61-69, M
@Arrow17 Good luck. I'd be interested in how it turns out for you.
Arrow17 · F
@carpediem Thank you.

I have it too - not sure what causes it - have had it for decades - sometimes I wonder if other people can hear it coming out of me ears!
Lostpoet · M
@Pretzel I didn't know that they had headphones in the sixties
Arrow17 · F
@Lostpoet Oh really. I may get it checked by a specialist doctor.

I did use Bluetooth headphones for quite a while. It might cause my fine hair to die in the ears.
Lostpoet · M
@Arrow17 Any loud noise can do it.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
Several things can cause that. Being subjected to loud noises is probably the most common. But long term, high doses of aspirin can also cause tinitis. Perhaps your doctor can find the cause and recommend a treatment.i
Arrow17 · F
@LadyBronte I don't listen to loud speaker everyday at home. I only listen to loud music 1 or twice a week when I go to sing a few song for 2 hours.
YoMomma ·
My husband has that… does it make you cranky at everyone?
YoMomma ·
@Arrow17 it’s not from the phone cause i’m on mine all the time and i don't have it.. do you take a lot of aspirin or over the counter pain meds?
Arrow17 · F
@YoMomma I am taking cetirizine hydrochloride tablets. But I have tinnitus before I took it. I should tell the doctor. I don't take pain killer anymore. I had stop for a long time ago.
OldBrit · 61-69, M
@Arrow17 many tablets can exacerbate tinnitus
Thrust · 56-60, M
