I've had my mitral valve replaced in my heart, so I have to take blood thinners for the rest of my life. I also have a couple bulging discs in my neck. I might have to have surgery on my neck, but right now they just gave me some medication to try and help manage the nerve pain.

I need an aortic valve replacement, so I’m just limping along until I can get that done. I’m also type 2 diabetic, but I’ve been managing it by no longer eating like an unsupervised child at a birthday party. I’ve been able to keep my A1C in the low 6’s by making better choices. Once I recover from the heart valve, I’ll be able to get back to hiking and other outdoor activities, which will help.

@BamPow Getting my mitral valve replaced was the best thing that ever happened to me. It really made me a different person today. I hope everything goes well with your valve replacement my friend.

@HowtoDestroyAngels Thanks. I’m so ready for it. My aortic valve is a birth defect, so it’s probably been holding me back to some degree my whole life. I’m looking forward to what the after can be.

@BamPow Weird. My mitral valve was a birth defect too. For over twenty years, the pains in my chest were diagnosed as anxiety. I got a new cardiologist in 23, got my valve replaced and the chest pain has been gone. I also don't need anxiety medication anymore.

Both these can be controlled by diet and exercise
A rigorous low gi diet, small portions and nothing between meals.
Build up exercise slowly, eventually run, or swim. Hill climbing too.
Repetitive low resistance weights to build up muscle strength.
And perhaps use zazan, mediation or yoga.
Avoid stress at work, difficult, but leave work at work, don’t bring it home. Map’out next days work before you leave..
The diabetes two and high blood pressure will fade,
Lastly avoid cocktail bars, they are not healthy, and expensive.
Spend time with friends. Family matters.
Absorb yourself in hobbies, or voluntary work.
Live for today.
That is my lifestyle.

Arthritis of the lower back, and knees. General stiffness and soreness depending on what I did the day before. Manageable diet issues. Recently I was pre-diabetic...now I am in the normal range.
