Diabetic with neuropathy: Edema

My sister is experiencing excess Edema in both feet and ankles. It can occur with neuropathy but now both feet are puffy🥺 She's read to elevate feet above heart level but any other ideas how to minimize edema?
She has a low salt diet already.

Weight loss if she is overweight. More exercise if she doesn't do much. Avoid tight clothing. And of course if she is already on some medication for other conditions get the doctor to check if they might be exacerbating it and perhaps change to different drugs. At least that seems to be what the NHS in the UK says.
Not sure but I take medication for Edema first thing in the morning daily and forever that's how I got rid of it.

She needs salt, organic celtic sea salt, that’s why she’s swelling up, they tell us to avoid salt.

Not the shop bleached crap.

Our bodies need it, what they tell us to avoid, we need to do the opposite.

They don’t want us healed.
@Achelois Actually they give cardiac patients nitroglycerin, not sodium, if they're still alive, adrenaline straight to the heart via a large syringe if their heart stops.

They put them on a drip.

I would think she needs to be on a diuretic also.

Maybe compression socks or hose?
Is she on a diuretic?
@Coralmist Have You taken her to a university hospital, they supposedly are the best for care.

@NativePortlander1970 We did and even they were unsure about how to treat her labile diabetes. However that was with an endocrinologist, we've not seen a neurologist there. But we did see one at a top city hospital and they offered almost nothing 🙁

We are working at getting her into a top diabetic facility soon
