Diabetic with neuropathy: Edema

My sister is experiencing excess Edema in both feet and ankles. It can occur with neuropathy but now both feet are puffy🥺 She's read to elevate feet above heart level but any other ideas how to minimize edema?
She has a low salt diet already.

@NativePortlander1970 No but I think now is a time to begin perhaps... thanks 🌟
@Coralmist (((((HUGS))))) You're so very welxome, it may ease her neuropathy too, when I was having excess fluid in my left foot, it made my own left foot neuropathy from nerve damage feel worse. Why in the fuck hasn't her doctors put her on metolazone and lasix by now? The massice edema could very well be exacerbating her neuropathy by putting water pressure on her nerves.

@NativePortlander1970 She had slight edema a few months ago when she saw a couple specialist, but even so, with slight, she's rapidly getting worse and hers is a very bad neuropathy case, they've even admitted. Why not try a small dose diuretic even then??? Now it's full edema and ankles are a too. It's unbelievable what you need to do to get them to actually discuss or advise or prescribe real treatment. Others online on her forum also say their neurologist do nothing for them ... It's heartbreaking to me what these doctors do. 😧
@Coralmist Have You taken her to a university hospital, they supposedly are the best for care.

@NativePortlander1970 We did and even they were unsure about how to treat her labile diabetes. However that was with an endocrinologist, we've not seen a neurologist there. But we did see one at a top city hospital and they offered almost nothing 🙁

We are working at getting her into a top diabetic facility soon
