Day two of prednisone!

I'm full of energy and want to eat everything in site! I made some avocado toast with mustard and it was freaking yummy!

Have you taken prednisone? What were your experience with it like?
I take it a lot because of a allergies and asthma.

I have been on prednisone for years and years...but not lately...like the past 5 years. I have eczema...and had it since I was a child..so lots of experience with prednisone.
Its a wonder drug for me...when I take it, my skin clears up, and my allergies are gone. I have not experienced the hunger....and I breathe beter.
I'm almost ready for more because my eczema is acting up.

I love helping people here, I learned a lot in 50 years of medical practice. Buy, you really need to discuss all medications prescribed to you, with both your physician and pharmacist.
@samueltyler2 Thank you for validating me. I am collecting notes and keeping tabs for my next appointment. I appreciate your input very much. It is helpful.

@PromiseProtectionProvision you shouldn't be embarrassed... I'm sure she's seen and heard it all before lol

@PromiseProtectionProvision I don't know what to call what I do, it isn't paying forward, because i already was privileged to practice
tobynshorty · 51-55, F
I have had it several times. I once had it for asthma and was home alone for several days and I was up all night talking to people from other countries.
@tobynshorty Yup. Sleep is scarce atm. I did manage to get 4 hours last night. I want to go for a bike ride, but I am not sure if it's a good idea yet.

My brain was going a million miles an hour, I found myself being short tempered, and road-raging. Also, my skin felt greasy all the time. I was pre-diabetic, but prednisone kicked me over the goal post into diabetes.
RockerDad · M
@samueltyler2 for sure. I still have pretty bad asthma, but I usually refuse oral steroids because of that.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@RockerDad have you discussed this with your health professionals? There are so many other therapies available these days.
RockerDad · M
@samueltyler2 yes I have. I take inhaled steroids instead.

Had it . I hear its hard on the heart
@ronisme1 That's my biggest concern. I see her soon. She had me wear a heart monitor for two weeks. Then boom, I had some kind of allergic reaction a week after I sent it in. The er doc put me on prednisone and zyrtec.
ronisme1 · 61-69, M
@PromiseProtectionProvision i was on steroids for years. Back in the old days they were prescribed for weak lungs(asthma). I now have heart issues and have had a couple of surgeries already
@ronisme1 Same. It's scary. Thank you for sharing.

Is it a "dose pack?"

You are describing the usual side effects.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@PromiseProtectionProvision be careful, you can end up gaining weight. It can also exacerbate any diabetic or prediabetic state.
@samueltyler2 It has awful side effects. Honestly, I want to just stop taking it.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@PromiseProtectionProvision when prescribing any medication, it is always necessary to review the risk benefit ratio
The "-sones" do that. So, long-term, most people get huge, with corresponding side-effects (mobility, joint issues, etc.).
No, but it seems everyone around me is taking it. My dad, my cat... everyone

It’s helpful for short term maladies, not to be ever used permanently IMHO.
