It's very fair for you to set and communicate your boundaries.

At the same time you should arm yourself with knowledge on the transmission risk for serious infections through kissing because everything I know is that its fairly low-risk behaviour if there's no obvious illness like a cold sore. This is more for your own anxiety than anything.

@CountScrofula it is a low risk. but i sometimes chew my cheeks so i get myself more worked up about it because it's usually a blood thing. which i dont bleed but broken skin is broken skin. i get extra anxious about it because my first bfs dad had aids (fortunately it was not passed to his children) and he got a cold once and i could hear him almost dying in the bathroom we shared a wall with... it's not something i ever want to experience or, worse, unknowingly pass to someone else. whether its herpes or hiv.. id rather be overly cautious

HSV 1 is NOT an STD... it is transmitted orally, by kissing or just eating from the same spoon...etc.
HSV 2 IS the STD... and it is transmitted sexually.

Hsv1 could be an std if you have oral... but then could be all other type of bacteria like salmonella, shigella...etc. Which was so uncommon in the past ages.

@Northwest fr. the date i went on i think my leaning away like that should have been kind of obvious. but the other 2 people i weren't expecting to kiss me, it was super sudden so i didn't have time to communicate whatsoever i didnt want any smooches. my face both times was fr like 😐😐 cause my lips were sealed

Personally I am not a fan of kissing, my late ex fiancee always seemed she was trying to eat my face off, and it grossed me out.

@NativePortlander1970 i also really dont like kissing. i was never super into the idea and then i got into my first relationship and it wasnt a super good one and kissing him literally made me feel like 🤢 i didnt love kissing my last bf either but at least i didnt want to gag the whole time lol
