Does anyone here fall asleep in the middle of a meal?

I have been dealing with this issue for almost a year now. Ever since I was younger, I have struggled with feeling extremely sleepy during meals. Initially, I didn't pay much attention to it, but in recent weeks, it has become significantly worse. I find myself falling asleep in the middle of eating, and even though I can still hear what's going on around me, I am unable to keep my eyes open. It's affecting my daily life already.🫠

I would perhaps check with a specialist if you don't have a mild form of narcolepsy.

I am no doctor and neither am I medically trained but if that happens frequently, then you really should consult a specialist. Does this only happen when you eat or do you have other situations where you catch yourself falling asleep?

@luvelle If you have been dealing with that issue for a year, then I would really check if there is no underlying medical condition. The strange thing is that it only happens when you eat.

For your peace of mind, please consult a GP or a specialist. Good luck.

@Stephie thank you!

@luvelle no problem and take good care of your health. You only have one.

I know a man with sleep apnea. He falls asleep sitting up quite often - sometimes when he’s talking with others. I don’t know about at meals.

You have been to a doctor i hope?
luvelle · 22-25, F
@Convivial not yet, I'm busy with studies and work. And it just recently worsened where I'd fall asleep during meals.

@luvelle i think that should rate highly on your to-do list

I ve seen babies falling asleep 😴 face still in the bowl 🤔🤔🤔Maybe your body just … extremely relaxes after all that good food 🤔🤔or maybe just certain foods. 🤔Do some research. Maybe just need to avoid some relaxing foods 🤔🤔
It could be diabetes. Blood sugar fluctuates while eating. Also, Any condition that causes chronic fatigue could be the cause. You should see a doctor.

Get your blood tested and see a good doc.
Could be acute hypothyroidism.
Or Sugar.

I used to doze off standing on one foot leaning on the veranda grillwork. 😀

I have seen it on a company outing. The guy was so drunk next to me that he fell asleep at the table.

I'd get to a doctor and have them check it out... sounds suspiciously like diabetes.
