Another SVT episode and in the hospital

At 12:15am my heart started racing and it woke me up. I had to go up to the ER here because my heart rate was staying at 185-205.

They gave me meds to get my heart rate back down but they made me stay over night. I am so tired and I barely slept at all because they put me in the room by the Nurse’s desk and I could hear them talking all night long 😭.

I am waiting to see the doctor and find out if he’s going to discharge me. I am getting so tired of this, just get me to a cardiologist already.
You can take my cardiologist. Everyone keeps telling me it's just stress, so I don't want to continue seeing him because I feel like I'm wasting their time. 😬

@Jenny1234 I am sorry you dealt with issues after Covid, I have asthma now. Are you still dealing with long covid?

It depends what the MRI is for, when they thought I may have has MS, I got in within 2 weeks for that MRI.

When they were trying to figure out what was going on with my knee that took 7 months to get an MRI and it’s partially dislocated. Then the wait to get in to see a specialist for it has been 7 months already.

When my Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer it took 2 months from diagnosis for her to have a Mastectomy so it’s not all bad.

@iamonfire696 you have asthma now? Do they know what brought that on?

My mri was scheduled to see if they could determine what was going on with my all day dizziness/nausea/exhaustion. I was living that way for 8 months and then it got better for four months then came back in full force. I couldn’t get out of bed some days. I missed a lot of time from work. I thought I was dying, Literally. Then I discovered acupuncture 15 months after the initial onset. Saved my life I swear.

My acupuncturist also is a Chinese medicine practitioner and she said that in Chinese medicine, Covid is believed to hit where people are weakest. My gut/digestion has always been my weakest point since childhood. She said that in Chinese medicine dizziness, nausea and exhaustion are symptoms of poor digestion and gut health. I would say that acupuncture improved my quality of life by 80%. I’ve been doing it for 15 months now.

@Jenny1234 I am so glad it’s worked so well for you. Long covid can be really disabling. I have done acupuncture and it’s worked well for some issues but not at all for others.

Yeah I got Asthma from having Covid so that sucks. I was so sick with it and had to be treated with monoclonal antibodies.

I wish there was a way to get you to my doctors and hospitals. They wouldn’t be delaying any treatments especially if you need an oblation. In the meantime positive vibes and thoughts for a healing therapy.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@SageWanderer This is my 8th episode and my 5th time in the ER.

He changed my med today but I can’t remember what it’s called. They gave me the med at the hospital and faxed the prescription to the pharmacy for me to pick up tomorrow.

He thinks I will need an ablation because this is happening so much.
SageWanderer · 70-79, M
@iamonfire696 I only had two episodes and determined I needed an intervention.

The new medication may help but the underlying cause needs to be addressed. I’ll be thinking of you and hope they do something soon!
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@SageWanderer I am happy you were treated so quickly 🩷.
Ontheroad · M
Haven't they come up with a diagnosis/why/treatment for these SVT events?
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@Ontheroad The doctor on call is thinking I need an ablation to correct this but he’s just a GP. The hospital I go to just has a doctor who is on call for emergencies. If I drove to the city where there is a hospital that has a cardiologist they may have me seen in the ER but it’s 45 minutes away and I don’t feel comfortable driving on the highway even as a passenger when my heart is going at 200 beats per minute, I feel short of breath, light headed and a heaviness in my chest.

I haven’t gotten an appointment with the cardiologist yet. People are having heart attacks and are higher priority than I am so I have had to wait. He’s going to get me in faster though because I can’t wait much longer.
Ontheroad · M
@iamonfire696 yeah, they really need to nail down the type of ablation before surgery, and that's going to take a cardiologist.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@Ontheroad Yes they will. The Nurse asked me if I had Afib before and I said I have been having SVT episodes. I was so tired I forgot to ask the doctor if I had Atrial Fibrillation too when they did the EKG.

l couldn’t even remember the name of the medication he switched me too but I will find out when I go get it this morning.
deadteddy · 26-30, F
I’m sorry to hear that. I hope they get you stabilized soon so you can be discharged. Feel better 💐
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@deadteddy Thank you, he changed my med and said he was going to try and expedite my referral to the cardiologist.
That's scary. Hope you can feel more rested after the chaos hospitals often are💙
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@HijabaDabbaDoo I hate this so much. I wish they would get me into a cardiologist already. I just keep utilizing the ER though.

Thank you 🩷

@iamonfire696 🙏🙏
NodandaWink · 51-55, M
@iamonfire696 That has got to be incredibly stressful. Knowing what you need to protect your life and having it be treared so cavalierly by those on whom you are depending!
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@NodandaWink That Canadian healthcare. I am having more symptoms that might warrant me seeing the Carfiolpgist sooner but I can’t see my Doctor until next Monday. If they get worse I will just go to the ER.

How are you? I haven't seen you around much since this post.
iamonfire696 · 41-45, F
@MsSwan I have just been tired. This medication they gave me makes me more tired and dizzy/light headed. Fun times 😭.

Thank you for checking. I had to get a steroid injection in my knee today because it’s partially dislocated so hopefully it helps. Stupid psoriatic arthritis.

@Notsimilarreally I know, I am getting sick of this. This is my 8th episode now and the last one felt like I was dying. I am worried because they mentioned Atrial Fibrillation and I have all the symptoms of it when I have an episode.
Notsimilarreally · 31-35, F
@iamonfire696 it must be so scary. There's a lot they can do through surgery... My aunt had like 4 heart surgerys over ten years! It really helped. With medical stuff I always nag, I'll call over and over, finally eventually you get someone to do something. Maybe if you pressed you doctor a little more?? You shouldn't have to live with this unfixed when there are doctors who specialize in it. And I know....Canadian healthcare....I might not fully understand how hard it is.
