My son in law lost 50 pounds on Keto diet fwiw. He basically eats anything but carbs.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@asslover699 i am limiting carbs but still have some cereal. Also as much sugar as i can eliminate

Sweetie, diet pills are very dangerous. That is why you have to be so careful. Stick to tried methods. I hear you. I lose weight by exercising. Eating healthy. And good lifestyle habits. Good friends. Walking with my dogs. Sleeping adequately. No short cuts. Thinking of you. Supporting you. We are in this together.
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@akindheart I bought a Berkey filter and use two kinds of filters to get everything including heavy metals and chlorine out. I won’t use the refrigerator ice maker either. I make ice from the water I filter
akindheart · 61-69, F
@cherokeepatti well not sure what will take it out of our water. you can't use it in aquariums it kills fish
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@akindheart Berkey filters can. Chlorine in the water can kill fish quickly… just a tiny bit
I'm so glad you made it through that episode.
I'll listen to doctors' suggestions, but I won't necessarily do what they say I need to.

akindheart · 61-69, F
@PhoenixPhail boy that is scary isn't it?
RuyLopez · 56-60, M
You have to really hydrate on the low carb diets. Water with a little sea salt or Himalayan salt in it for the electrolytes. As I understand it, as you lose weight the fat is released from the water, the hydrate part of carbohydrate, as it is stored in your body. So you end up losing a good amount of your natural water. I'm sure my explanation has holes in it but the main thing is the water with the electrolytes. I'm glad you are stabilized and feeling better.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@RuyLopez they had that covered too. I drank bottles of gatorade zero. I was sitting in the ER drinking bottles of water and it was not helping. the gatorade did the trick.
aldnazmeister · 56-60, M
Wow, what a scare. 🤗
Happy to hear that you are stable and healthy again.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@aldnazmeister Thank you. Donated blood and passed with flying colors plus i have kept the weight off!
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
I’m glad you’re feeling better. That sounds scary.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@JesseInTX it was. because i am so healthy otherwise. but i am good now. and thinner!! i think my body started losing too fast and went into survival mode
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@akindheart gotta be careful with those diets. Even if a doctor says it will work doesn’t mean everyone’s body will react the same.
4meAndyou · F
500 calories a day is insanity. That diet doctor needs to be shut down. I once tried the Women's Olympic Ski team diet, which guaranteed the loss of 20 pounds in 2 weeks. Lunch was a sliced tomato and an egg. I couldn't eat that combination for many years afterward without gagging.

I realize that no one can tell another person what to do, but ANY diet that is less than 1000 calories a day is dangerous and irresponsible.
4meAndyou · F
@akindheart The problem is, as soon as you resume your former habits, the weight will gradually return. You can't stay at 500 calories without killing yourself. Do try for 1000 to 1200 per day.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@4meAndyou i have been cutting calories for over a month and half. I have changed those habits. I am still 12 lbs lighter.
4meAndyou · F
@akindheart AND not in the hospital. PLEASE take care of YOU.
Oh my God!!! I’m so very happy that you’re health and everything is back to a healthy measure… losing size is not as important as your health …

Tip: chew one or a half of garlic clove… depending on how high your blood pressure is … it will bring your blood pressure down
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Soossie Thank you for the tip. hey did you see my message to you?
@akindheart

No …. But I’m going to check … give me a second please..
TexChik · F
That diet would have killed me ! It was too aggressive !
My BMI is very low but I got there gradually after baby .
akindheart · 61-69, F
@TexChik i tried that. i just carry stevia with me. it is natural and tastes pretty good.
TexChik · F
@akindheart getting away from needing sweet is a tough road
akindheart · 61-69, F
@TexChik for sure. i get a donut once a week. my reward.
Flipper111 · 51-55, M
Glad you’re ok now.
And happy.
Slade · 56-60, M
That's a scary BP. I had it once around there and I've been on a medication since. It's been pretty stable ever since.

In the days before I noticed numb and tingling in various areas
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Slade i always had low blood pressure then i fell in my son's room, tripping over wires. hit my head and that set off high BP. been on meds every since. the meds failed after 20 yrs and almost stroked out. i am stable now.
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
Often our bodies will dictate what is needed. You’re fortunate there wasn’t any harm done. Good luck on the remainder of your journey.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Quimliqer I know!! all the doctors said I was very healthy for my age. God is good
Quimliqer · 70-79, M
@akindheart Amen!!
Ambroseguy80 · 51-55, M
So much for doctors 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ugh that was horrific, but I hope are stable now and maybe you’ll get that last eight pounds off 💪
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Ambroseguy80 i sure will!
Lostpoet · M
That seems like a lot of stress just to have your cloths fit well.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Lostpoet I didn't know ALL the details. he said he could get me down to a size 6. I said a 10 would do.I really needed to lose. i have no belly now
Lostpoet · M
@akindheart You should be proud of your hard work but it isn't worth having to go to the doctors with health problems.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Lostpoet no it most definitely is not
likesnatural · 70-79, M
I have tried to lose weight by eating less. It works if I stick to it, but it is snacking that kills me.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@likesnatural me too. i work for an eating company. i had to stop the snacking. so far after 1.5 months, the weight is still off.
likesnatural · 70-79, M
Sorry you had so much trouble and reactivity.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@likesnatural and it cost me money to suffer! lol
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
I went on an 800-calorie a day of healthy foods and my hair started falling out a few weeks after I started. Even after going back to a regular diet and eating more my hair continued to shed for over 3 months. I don’t know how you can eat so little and not have problems.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@cherokeepatti i was taking tons of supplements. it didn't even affect my dry eye either. Hey i sent you an email. did you get it?
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
That is not healthy way to lose weight.
Nobody should be restricted to 500 calories a day.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Justmeraeagain it was not health for me. but it worked for other people. and it did burn off a lot of fat on me. i wouldn't do it again.
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
@akindheart I understand what you're saying but I find that kind of thing dangerous who wants to look good for their own funeral?
akindheart · 61-69, F
@Justmeraeagain well it worked for them. my body just didn't take to it. but i did keep 12 lbs off. i am good with it.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
Going back on the meds?
akindheart · 61-69, F
@samueltyler2 the diet meds? absolutely not. I am doing good without them. the bp meds? i haven't stopped taking them.
samueltyler2 · 80-89, M
@akindheart yes, i meant the diet med.
akindheart · 61-69, F
@samueltyler2 oh no. i can't take the phentamine. but i can take the ozympic. will talk to my doctor about it. I just need to lose 8 more lbs.
