What if I get called in for work tomorrow while I wait for the Covid 19 test results? What do I say?

I don’t wanna risk anyone getting harmed because I might have it. I don’t want to be selfish and I’m not a selfish person.

I am feeling a lot better than the last couple of days. I did tell my boss that I took the test on Friday and I get my Covid 19 test results from 2-5 days but on the paper I was told I would have to self quarantine until I get the results. I did that for three days. If I feel better tomorrow, should I go to work while I wait for my results. My dad said I should stay home but call my boss tomorrow morning but take care of myself be I would be putting everyone at risk. I work at a pet store.

YOU STAY AT HOME UNTIL YOU GET YOUR RESULT!
BalmyNites · F
@LaylaTheTallGirl No, you’re not going to jail

You’re simply telling the boss no - you cannot come into work until you know your results are clear

@BalmyNites Okay thank you. I just hope I don’t lose my job.

@LaylaTheTallGirl You won’t lose your job

Just be firm but polite 🤗
on the paper I was told I would have to self quarantine until I get the results.
I interpret that to mean that you must tell work that, even though you want to take a shift, you can't get out of self quarantine until you get a negative result. It's a dept of health rule; most businesses understand that.

@ElwoodBlues Even if I feel better? He might ask me that and I got to be honest with him. He should be able to understand that am in self quarantine when I can’t come in to work.
@LaylaTheTallGirl Yes, even if you feel better, the health dept rules have no flexible. Feelings are subjective; test results much less so.

Tell them you are still awaiting results and that you're still feeling poorly.
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@LaylaTheTallGirl No. If you are still feeling sick at all...and it is COVID...they say you are still contagious. Wait for the test results.
LaylaTheTallGirl · 22-25, F
@LadyBronte I haven’t gotten the results yet
LadyBronte · 61-69, F
@LaylaTheTallGirl I understand that - it's why I said "Wait for the test results."
ButterRobot · 51-55, M
you should explain to them you are awaiting a test result and decline the shift.
LaylaTheTallGirl · 22-25, F
@ButterRobot Thanks. I just don’t wanna get fired and lose my job.

Dumbass. Stay home!
It doesn’t matter what anyone else says. I’m sure I can get Accommodations from your boss for you to work and if you’re able to work then go to work but stay home stupid. If you work with children, that’s a different story.
TheArbitrator · 36-40, M
Are you not able to work? If your employer knows you might have covid and can accommodate you, I don't see why you can't go to work.
LaylaTheTallGirl · 22-25, F
@TheArbitrator What does that mean? That’s why I’m asking for advice because I don’t want to miss work and get fired.
PetiteJulie01 · 22-25, F
@TheArbitrator Unless she works with children, there should be no reason she can’t get accommodations but she still needs to stay home! No exceptions because if she goes to work while waiting for the results that’s breaking the law.

@LaylaTheTallGirl If your employer can provide you with a place away from other workers & clients/customers, you can work.

Legally, you are supposed to self-quarantine if it's confirmed that you have COVID. That's not been confirmed. However, you still have a right to stay home if you think you have covid. If your employer fires you, you can report them and get unemployment benefits. It's your call but as you say, you don't want to go around people if you know you might have covid.
