You ever totally bought in to

What very well could be an ole' wives tale?🤔

My dad taught me that as a welder drinkin' milk helps you rid toxins and reduce the chance of Metal Fume Fever.

Some I work with laugh an shrug it off... Some of " US" bring some every shift🤣

I did buy into the one where they say you`ll go blind if you don`t stop. I fooled them I got glasses. 😬
Trippin · F
@Degbeme Slick... You are indeed then. 🤣

Instead, use a respirator every time you work. The fumes, (zinc oxide), cause an allergic reaction that resembles the flu. If levels in the air are too high, only a respirator will help you.

The lifetime exposure might have effects that are, at present time, unknown.

I've never heard of the milk theory, interesting though.

Welding Woman!!! That's your super power. Impressive.
Spumoni · 46-50, M
@Trippin Maybe there's some truth to it.🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
Trippin · F
@Spumoni Had a primary care doc once refute it. 🤷‍♀️ They would have laughed him outta where I work. Go figure.

@Trippin I worked with a guy that was big into reducing metals within the body. He had a lot of great information about it.
Even if it is just an old welder's tale, the calcium and B12 in the milk are good for your body... 🙂
Trippin · F
@HootyTheNightOwl I agree. Plus you squeeze some chocolate in there an its supper way more yummier. 🙂
found that an apple a day doesn't keep the doctor away
Trippin · F
@saragoodtimes Haha! If only it were! The insurance co pay Id have to buy shoes with!!! An more apples.
@Trippin he comes home every night with no co-pay required
Trippin · F
Mayo clinic says
Calcium can affect how your body absorbs iron, zinc and magnesium.
Calcium interupts the absorption of zinc and iron by the body ... essentially passing those minerals out of the body
Trippin · F
@questionWeaver Boom!! But believe me... I had a practicing doctor tell me otherwise. 🤷‍♀️ Crazy!!!
@Trippin doctors are not the best chemists

305 mg per cup of milk
Darkskiescoming · 51-55, M
I have totally bought in to some. You like men with big feet, they have to have big socks...LOL

I think anything your dad taught you has to be right.
Trippin · F
@Darkskiescoming Haha!! 🤣

I used to work with a spray painter who drank a lot of milk at work, for similar reasons to your dad. Might be some truth in it. Milk's supposed to 'put a lining on your stomach'. 🤔
Chemistry class tells me your dads advice rings true
@Trippin exactly
@Trippin I bet, in 6 weeks "THEM" are all drinking milk
Trippin · F
@questionWeaver Haha... Truth: Skills aside... I kinda earned a teeny tiny bit of shop cred once the older school guys realized it was all I brought to drink. 🤣
Virgo79 · 61-69, M
Helps after painting too
Trippin · F

Virgo79 · 61-69, M
