In Islam, we believe that if we love someone, we should tell them bluntly.
Read it somewhere. And its so true. Just ask, and if they say no, then it's cool because then it won't build up into your head and turn into lust.
I think, if you think it will be problem and you feel scared of losing them, try to show them that you love them. Like, making them feel special. You could do this by getting them little gifts everyday. Trust me, people never forget the way you made them feel. And try to be there for them in their low days, if they let you and if it is possible for you. Try for 15 days, and if they still don't agree or see it, then run as fast as you can (do this for yourself) and focus your romantic inclination towards someone else.
But promise that you will be blunt. This happened to me with a great guy that I used to like. But he was Hindu, so I was a little unsure whether he would like me back. So, I just let it be, and I liked him a lot in my heart. He was so positive and friendly and intelligent. So, I kept it in my heart and focused on making myself like him, because I liked the way he was. His name was Karan Nathwani. He used to get me gifts all the time, but I did not think he would like me back, because he was so beautiful and awesome. And then, he got married to another girl.
I did not go.
Fast forward, I was living in Frankfurt (Oder) in Germany, and he came with his wife to Berlin, and said he wanted to meet me. I was living with my boyfriend then, and we invited him to our home.
He did not come.
Fassssst forward, just recently, I came back to instagram and looked him up to see what he was up to. He has 2 beautiful kids now. I asked to follow him. He accepted my friend request after 2 days.
He did not add me back.
