Some users are here primarily for public conversations, and some are here primarily for private messages. I suppose there is a whole spectrum between those two extremes, but I happen to be toward the "public conversations" end of the spectrum.

But by making posts, responding to others' posts , and having conversations in public, I have come to meet people who I like. And some actually like me. And in that sense, we make friends here.

If you add someone to your friends list and they add you back, then the two of you will see each other's posts more often, and interactions between the two of you will become a regular thing.

It helps to enjoy the website in the long run, but making friends requires public interaction first, so start with that.

Not really, it begins by commenting on people’s posts and having them interacting on yours. But gradually friendships do develop; there will be posters you look forward to seeing here. 😊

There are LEVELS of interaction. The most shallow sorts don't require friends You can interact with strangers for the most shalllow sort of interaction. Friends, however, really talk, and support one another.
