Miram · 31-35, F
Okay but what do you think about UserXYZ and would you do them?

And will I travel back in time and have sex with FriendXYZ?
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
@Miram lol 🤣

If I mute someone, I don’t want to see their posts, therefore what they write, and what a friend may write on that post holds no interest for me. I’d rather they remain hidden.
JimBeam · M
@HootyTheNightOwl

It's not pointless to me. Someone might view blocking as petty, Dorothy.
@JimBeam I'm sure that they do... but I don't care a rat's ass about what other people think. If I blocked them, I did it for a reason - so, why should their views on anything bother me???
Carissimi · 70-79, F
Then, I’d just block them. Why keep someone around who is a nuisance to you? @JimBeam
For example; selfie feeds depress me .... so I mute people who regularly initiate selfie feeds (or just while they are active)

But that does not work well ... because all my friends are attractive women and next thing I know ... I am seeing massive invites to view selfies ... in the same post I just muted.

Which depresses me even more.

So ... I would like mute to actually mute the posts.
TexChik · F
@questionWeaver I never really minded those so much 🤷🏻‍♀️. Incessant profanity lights my fuse
@TexChik I think the selfie threads have something to do with missing Annie, Wind and MapleSyrup ... at least for me.

Cause that seems to be what I come back to.
TexChik · F
@questionWeaver aww. I do understand .
TexChik · F
No I do not want to see anything associated with the muted person
SW-User
Can it be the same for blocked people…if they comment on a post you can’t see their comment but you can see people replying to them…would be so much better to not see any of the conversation
SW-User
@HannahSky lol so much easier if @Nuno could magic the conversations invisible
HannahSky · F
@SW-User as usual, he now has way too much feedback to sort through lol
SW-User
@HannahSky always the way
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
You just reminded me to block the a-hold who called me a nasty old hag
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@Vivaci I did report him. Nothing came of it that I know of
Carazaa · F
@Jenny1234 That guy who attacked you probably liked you and was offended that you didn't like him and came back to harrass you as a different person to get you back. Had you rejected a guy here? Probably many huh?😂
@Jenny1234 Don’t worry...

The important thing is you report them. All requests are duly acted upon, so I don’t bother how long it takes. I just block that person after reporting. Now the ball isn’t in my court.
butterfly1013 · 26-30, F
I made a post about this not long ago, but what I requested is a bit different. I would like to be able to mute certain kinds of posts without muting the person because some people I like to see posts from, just not certain ones so I still would like to see them on my feed, just would like to hide particular posts from them.

For the most part to answer the question... I would rather the comments be hidden as well.
Nuno · Admin
@butterfly1013 Hiding specific posts will be released very soon.
Magenta · F
@Nuno Sweet!
If I’ve muted someone, it’s usually coz I’m tired of their incessant and attention seeking nonsense. So I don’t want to know what they say to my friends too. Just no...thank you! 😐
@JimBeam If they’re not in your friends list, then you can ignore their comments. Simple! 🤷‍♀️
JimBeam · M
@Vivaci

Yes, but would they still be able to comment on my questions without my knowing about it? I wouldn't want that.
SW-User
@JimBeam If people are commenting on your questions, you can delete their responses. If they're making comments to you under a post you've made on someone else's question, you don't have any control over that. Admin won't create an option to do what you want. You need to block someone if you want to ensure they can't comment on your posts.
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
All replies on here are people who blocked me.😐
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
@MrBrownstone 🤣 why you blocked by so many people bro
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@JohnOinger people hate the truth
Jenny1234 · 51-55, F
@MrBrownstone ain’t that the truth
nedkelly · 61-69, M
Never muted anyone, cant see the sense just as easy to block the people or they block me
Nope. Don’t want to see their posts or any comments. There’s a reason I muted them.

@YMITheWayIM It says your comment is "sensitive" lol
YMITheWayIM · 46-50, M
@SW-User Just not to hurt anyone's sentiments unintentionally 🤞
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
That’s getting petty Nuno… leave as it is. Could you put a space next to user names though so we can keep notes or use a keyword for like their name or dog or jerk? Right now we have to reread conversations to realize why we avoid certain people.
@Keepitsimple Since I started studying blocking behavior, I had to keep a journal
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
I don’t bother. They reinvent themselves and come back as alter ego #6@questionWeaver
Magenta · F
I do not want to see the friends comments, because it reveals the posts, in the "recent activity feed", and makes me aware of it. I muted the person because I do not wish to see their posts or contents of.
Magenta · F
@Nuno P.S. You said
(assuming you have Comments in Feed enabled, of course)
By feed, do you mean "recent activity" and can we disable that?
Nuno · Admin
@Magenta No, I mean disabled through the "Customize Feed" button in the sidebar, which only affects comments appearing in the main Feed.
Magenta · F
@Nuno Ok, thank you.
CestManan · 46-50, F
Seems like some people get really picky about things on here.
So in response, the admins keep creating more and more tools to not see posts or users or whatever.

If someone is unhappy enough on here that they actually need like 50 types of silencing tools, why doesn't the person just go and find a more suitable forum that they may enjoy more?

If I were an admin I would probably tell people, "Don't like it here? There's the door".

Some people here are about as unhappy as a prude would be on fetlife.
I don't mute anyone because of this.

Obviously, if I want to mute a post, I don't want to see it in my feed - end of. I don't care if Joe Bloggs or the Prince of Wales has replied to it... I don't want to see it in my feed.

Because friends replying to posts I don't want to see bumps them up my feed, I see the mute option as useless and bypass it by blocking people instead.
Nanori · F
I wanna know what business does my friend have with that person cause I'm nosy af 😤 also I wanna use that opportunity to reply to my friend's comment to say smth passive aggressive to that person
Lilymoon · F
The only reason I mute is so I don't see the muted persons posts or comments in the feed. basically a lighter version of the block.
So I wouldn't mind seeing the "friends" comments on the post.
If that makes sense lol
Piper · 61-69, F
I don't mind seeing the comments, and would prefer to. Since I seem to be in the minority, perhaps this could be made an option in our settings.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
kinda defeats the point of mute if the post of muted person still shows up whenever someone comments on it... 🤔
Magenta · F
@wildbill83 It's annoying. I have someone muted due the redundant images they post. But they have a close friend who comments on their posts and it shows up in the activity when they do, ugh.
wildbill83 · 36-40, M
@Magenta or the trolls that mark nudity on their post to get attention, then everyone and their brother stops by to comment on it...🤦‍♂️
SW-User
It doesn't bother me to see comments made. After all, I muted the person which is a lot different than blocking someone
SW-User
If I've muted someone, I don't care if a friend comments on their post. There's a reason why I don't want to see the OP. Usually it has to do with a fetish or some stupidity that isn't a blockable offense to me, just not something I want to read. I think if a friend wants to interact with someone I don't, that's fine with me. I don't need to be involved in that.
Dang, Nuno. I thought I had you muted!
Lilnonames · F
@BiasForAction i tried blockin him but that didnt work either 🤭
DeWayfarer · 61-69, M
Another admin type post I missed. 😔
SW-User
I want to set it on fire
SW-User
I rarely look at the comment feed, so I don't care, but I voted for "see my friend's comment on that Post in my Feed", because I feel if people are that serious about not seeing someone's posts, they should block them.
ninalanyon · 61-69, T
I wouldn't want that to be the default. But it would be good to be able to switch it on for specific friends. And of course I would want to be able to see what my friend was replying to.
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
I won't mute my friends comments this seems harsh to me lol
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
@MrBrownstone he'll yes some of them are probably my Groupies
MrBrownstone · 46-50, M
@JohnOinger will nuno create your own group?
JohnOinger · 41-45, M
@MrBrownstone I hope so @Nuno is my John Olinger Group gonna be created 🙂
SW-User
My feed is set up as such that I don’t see everyone’s comment on a given post unless I’ve commented on it and then THAT’s in my notifications
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
You know what’s so weird, I actually talked about this a few months back 🤣🤣
https://similarworlds.com/experiences/3940249-I-feel-sorry-for-the-people-who-want-me-on-mute
Echambers101 · 26-30, M
@TurtlePink I remember
TurtlePink · 22-25, F
@Echambers101 You literally just confused me 🤣🤣
Echambers101 · 26-30, M
@TurtlePink what do you mean
adorbz · 26-30, F
I think most of the time I'd wanna see it but an option on individual posts to hide comments without having to block the OP would be good
HannahSky · F
I'd rather keep seeing people/comments I like than have them become invisible too.
HannahSky · F
Fyi I only saw this because a comment was in the feed. I didn't get it on the top of the feed.
plungesponge · 41-45, M
I want to see it, what if they talking trash about me?
Carazaa · F
Thanks for choices, i I never mute anyone but thanks!
Keepitsimple · 51-55, F
Don’t care. People can be friends with whoever they want to.
Jm31xxx · 41-45, M

I want to see my friend’s comment still
MethDozer · M
See them. To me muting should keep them off the thread feeds, not the comment feed.
Magenta · F
@MethDozer I highly dislike the "recent activity" feed also.
It's a stalkers heaven.
MethDozer · M
@Magenta I don't agree with that really,
JerseyGal · 51-55, F
@Magenta
When it does not have to do with our personal feed, comments, etc, I agree.
