Why do some people send the answers to your questions via PM instead of posting them on the thread?

That is odd. I won't switch over to PM unless we agre that's where the conversation should go.

I like PMs because they can be long form messages. But that's not something you can just get after a few lines back and forth in a comment thread.

I do it when I want to give someone an answer discreetly, either because I don't want to get involved in the public discussion/flamewar, or because I think it might embarrass them to just post it for everyone to see.

cause they want to talk to you... and I am not sure a questions with a risqué Answer would require a personal response either... the site is anonymous, if the question required that then why wouldn't they post it?
