Is mental Illness on the rise?

CuTiePi · F
Idk but it's certainly more openly discussed with less of a stigma attached.

no. Its just that people are finally being more open about it

Somewhat although much of it is that people refuse to cope and want a magic pill to make them happy. Big pharma has pushed this idea along with doctors who are out for profit.
In general, yes. At least in the first world, for which there is reliable data (increased levels of diagnosis can't account for all the increase, some of it just has to be real). Specifically, it depends on the condition in question.
I'm troubled.
I think it might be that it is recognised more by the public and mental health community. I had never heard the word drpression when I was 17 and my depression started so we have come a long way.
I think people are just more open and seeking treatment. In the past folks were just quietly or not so quietly "troubled" until family members had them committed.
Well if this site is any indication I'd say YES

It is, so much stress and expectations put on the young ones that they start believing that they need the stress to function.

It is within my right as the creator of this thread to erase such self righteous and highly generalizing post like these.
