Besides taking Chantix and replacing smoking with exercising, vitamins and healthy food

What other suggestions do you have to quit smoking? I have struggled with trying to quit for years

It’s really mind over matter. I stopped smoking and drinking “cold turkey” one day 7-8 years ago.

Anytime I felt a craving (initially), I just told myself, “That’s not me anymore.”

You have to be strong with your “No’s!”, otherwise your mind will keep talking to you attempting to convince you otherwise. After a month, it gets much easier and even more so after two.

Now, I don’t miss either, particularly smoking.

For me, practicing yoga worked. I’d practice for 30 minutes to an hour and feel better than I ever did and then smoke a cigarette and that feeling would go away immediately. Eventually I waited longer and longer to smoke until it made no sense at all to wreck the great feeling I was creating over and over again.

Also do the math on how much you spent on your career of smoking including how much it will cost to smoke for the rest of your life.

It really is an addiction you have to attack on all sides, mentally, physically, health, and even relationships.

I’ve been smoke free for a decade now. Smoked for 8 years, spent over $15,000 on them, and smoked over 60,000 cigarettes, by smoking a pack and 4 cigs a day.

Yes, keep dreaming about how stress free traveling will be. No more complex trigonometry equations to determine how to get through Security twice without missing your flight. That's Priceless!

After 25 years, my mother just decided to do it. And then did it. The money she saved on cigs she kept as "me money." With her raising 5 kids that was not a bad reward.

Keep your hands and mouth busy. Also have a good reason for quitting. You need to have a reason that motivates you.
