It's not the same. Disney supports teaching 4–6-year-old school kids about alternative sexualities (Gay and Trans) without parental consent or knowledge. Florida's Governor and Legislature out lawed that as soon as they were aware, and Disney lost is tax abatement and their fly over protection as a result. The movie does not include the outspoken conservative Tim Allen's voice because, well he's a conservative. And the movie depicts male-male romantic kissing. If this were not an animated movie targeting children, that would be fine. But Disney is targeting children and I believe that is pedophilia at its worst because parents who grew up with ToyStory are expecting a cute wholesome movie. The actor giving his voice to the new Buzz called the parents objecting to the "kiss" being put in a kid's movie "idiots". Just an FYI

@TexChik All that doesn't bother me. What bothers me is that it's not the same. It looks and feels weird like it's some cheap version of toy story

@Jimthere4fun And yet ABC tried to blacklist Allen and his highly rated show was picked up by another network. He is the Iconic voice of cute nonsexual character for kids. Now that is gone. ABC is owned by Disney if you were unaware.
Go ahead and see it, it is not a toy story movie pre-quel, it is a stand alone movie. This might help
Lightyear producer Galyn Susman also had thoughts about not casting Tim as the main lead, and they were pretty much in line with Angus' statement. “Tim Allen is Buzz Lightyear the toy,” she said during a recent press conference. “We weren’t making a Toy Story movie. We’re making Buzz Lightyear’s movie. And so first and foremost, we just needed a different person playing that Lightyear, separate from the toy.”

@Jimthere4fun There was a stand alone movie in I wanna say 99/2000 called buzz lightyear of star command. I used ti love that movie and they made it into a tv series too if memory serves me correctly
@Neurotoxin if you can read the non political articles about the movie, star command if not used in this movie. Totally different.

I hear that the movie is a bit of a dud. Not that it makes any difference to me. I don't watch movies but according to box office returns it is not making anywhere near the money it was expected to make.

The logic with not casting Tim Allen makes no sense. If the toy is inspired by the character, shouldn't the toy and the actual character both sound like Tim Allen?

Same it looks like shit. The cartoon was much better.
