If someone appears to have an obvious mental illness or disorder but still finds ways to be positive is it right to 'awaken" them?

That is a very interesting thought that not many have the stomach to tackle head on.

At some point a person is beyond reason. If their delusion is a pleasant one that causes no harm then really that is the best you can hope for.

Pacify them and leave them to their own devices.

[@807598,Eternity] thank you for answering this. As you can tell its not a easy thing to think or even talk about. And it's strange so many people actually go as far as to actually doing this even when a person is high functioning and seemingly just happy

I think it’s right to let them know of family’s concerns and encourage them to get an evaluation. We went through this with my mom when we were concerned she had altzheimers

[@506684,DawsonsGrove] that must have been so tough I'm so sorry

[@1196310,Mellowgirl] thanks. It was tough and she was really upset when we talked to her about it.

[@506684,DawsonsGrove] Bless her.

Are you saying that people with mental illness cannot or should not be positive?
Mellowgirl · 26-30, F
[@6912,Pinkstarburst] as I asked the question I don't remember saying I think people with mental health issues could or couldn't be positive. I simply asked whoever reads this whether it's right for you, me, us, the world to awaken them?
Pinkstarburst · 51-55, F
[@1196310,Mellowgirl] Awaken them to what?
Mellowgirl · 26-30, F
[@6912,Pinkstarburst] that they may not be so well.

Why can't people with mental illnesses/disorders be positive?
Mellowgirl · 26-30, F
[@3483,minioreosarebomb] since I'm asking the question I'm asking what you think about the situation. There was no indication I do or don't think they can be positive or happy.

Nah. Let them ride the wave

[@1179238,Apollon] I didn't realise I specified diagnosing someones health I thought the question was in the even that someone has an obvious mental health issue should you, me, us the world awaken someone?
Its quite simple either you could say yes or no and either elaborate. Or you could ask me why I asked this and my opinion on the topic.
Mellowgirl · 26-30, F
[@1179238,Apollon] maybe that's something you could consider when or if you're faced with that situation. Seems you have all the tools necessary.
