If a homeless person straight up asked for some money for a beer would you give it to them?

Stopping at an off ramp, I noticed a panhandler by the side of the road with a cardboard sign. It said, "Wouldn't work if you held a gun to my head. Need money for beer and smokes."

I almost gave him a dollar, but the light changed too fast.

I usually give them grocery store gift cards, so if they want to spend it for n beer, there’s nothing stopping them.
