Is it true that we have to go though pain to grow?

I’ve been hurt so many times, disappointed and betrayed. A boy broke my heart because he didn’t like me back and also because I’m tall. One of my best friends changed for the world and she posted about me on the inter and people call me ugly names and blocked me.
My half sister told me, “I know it hurts to go though rejection and bad situations BUT that helps you grow as a person. You have to go though pain, and be uncomfortable to grow and sometimes you HAVE to go though bad situations to appreciate the good. If you don’t and if the world was all butterflies and rainbows all the time, how are you going to know how to appreciate the good times we have? And how will you know what bad is if you are just used to life with just happiness and rainbows? I know it sounds harsh and uncomfortable but it’s the truth. You HAVE to get hurt to grow. Nobody likes to get hurt but it makes you a stronger person. If you never been thought pain, then you won’t grow as a person. See what I’m saying? Just like when someone tells you the ugly truth in your face to see what mess you’re in, you will be a better person.”
So going though pain is a GOOD thing? I guess bad things are good.
My sister is 33, OLD. How would she know a teen girls life?
It’s called...’growing pains’.. 👍

@LaylaTheTallGirl not all of it, but sometimes you need to grow up & face the music of life for your soul to mature
LaylaTheTallGirl · 22-25, F
@DianaGyana No way! I’m staying a little kid forever.
DianaGyana · 31-35, F
@LaylaTheTallGirl yeah it is good to keep your inner child alive, but sometimes that inner child need to do adult stuff too. good luck

Get used to it
LaylaTheTallGirl · 22-25, F
@HannibalMontanimal How would you know?! Adults always say that to us.
DianaGyana · 31-35, F
@LaylaTheTallGirl everyone that gives you advice here was once teenagers. It is like you want advice but don't want. So what is it?
DianaGyana · 31-35, F
@LaylaTheTallGirl you are calling this taking sides? Go do some living, maybe then you will respect your sister and others on here who care enough to respond.
Rose0415 · 36-40, F
Unfortunately yes. I didn't understand it either when I was your age, but I did as I got older and I am sure that you will too ❤.
DianaGyana · 31-35, F
@Rose0415 yeah I don't get the people on here calling her mentally ill or disabled for asking such questions...wtf... mentally ill people don't think about life. Scary stuff seen on here, adults making kids believe they are mentally ill and want to convince others to treat them as such. There are some evil and mentally disabled kids for sure .. but calling someone mentally ill for asking ordinary day questions is beyond messed up. Damn I think I need a break from SW now. 😱😱😱🙄
Rose0415 · 36-40, F
@DianaGyana And that is one reason in my opinion why kids shouldn't be on here.
DianaGyana · 31-35, F
you need to learn pain, to avoid pain🤔
DianaGyana · 31-35, F
@LaylaTheTallGirl your sister is twice ur age, she experienced all the emotions u are experiencing now. It will be good to listen, she cares.
LaylaTheTallGirl · 22-25, F
@DianaGyana I’m tired of hearing the hard crap. My sister told me, “Not everyone is going to care about you or your problems. People have their own problems and they don’t have time for your crap. You have to realize that no body will always comfort you. You have to brush it off, and just go on with your day. People will disrespect you throughout your life.m and you’re almost 18. Start acting like it! You’re not a child that gets pushed around. You’re a YOUNG WOMAN that needs to start standing up for for yourself and it needs to stop!”
DianaGyana · 31-35, F
@LaylaTheTallGirl would you rather have a sister that tells you lies about life and see you get hurt without giving you advice, or rather a sister who cares enough to help you prepare how to deal with the hurt?🤔
iamelijah · 26-30, M
Sad but true.
LaylaTheTallGirl · 22-25, F
@DianaGyana WHY DOES EVERYONE KEEP TELLING ME LIFE ISNT FAIR? Adults taught us how to be fair! What the hell?
DianaGyana · 31-35, F
@LaylaTheTallGirl adults aren't perfect, sometimes they do not live up to their adult images. You can strive to become a better adult and be fair towards people you meet someday🤔
