Americans, which is the worst part of your country which causes you embarrassment?

Is it Texas?
New York, New Jersey, Washington, Oregon, California. More specifically, NYC, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles. Sacramento, and New Jersey. Bastions of violence, poverty, disease, drugs, civil unrest, depravity, perversion, and human suffering, where audacious elite leftists virtue signal about social justice, while their victims shoot up and defecate in their streets.

None of the country causes me embarrassment, I love it all as a country. Now there are some people within the country that I would think are an embarrassment to the country. (Dang, embarrassment is such a long word, my finger is tired now!)
Texas is example of how a state should operate.

It is the state everybody is moving to ... getting out of the blue states is a migration

@puck61 I hate violence and guns! I I love people! If we love violent movies and protect ourselves with guns instead of trusting in God and loving our enemies you don't God will be so furious? And you don't think he won't let our kids die of violence??? Well then you need to get back to the Bible and read what he says!
@Carazaa Hate is rarely good

@questionWeaver now you're talking some sense😉

California is like a third world country these days, in parts. New York is going down hill. Texas is a great state, for now, but with all the Californians moving there, it won’t last long.
Carazaa · F
@Carissimi God is already judging the country for its hate Texas more than any state!

I've never been to Texas, but my understanding is that it's a richly diverse state with a booming economy and a loving populace. Not without cultural and political flaws, but the good outweighs the bad. The most embarrassing part of my country is, and likely always will be, Washington D.C..
JT123 · M
Washington DC. The Democrats there are embarrassing us daily with their un American tactics!
Carazaa · F
Racism and The uncaring for the poor and refugees! People here don't want to increase the spending for the homeless and mentally ill! Instead they prefer them to be on the street, and parks! Well God doesn't want us to ignore the poor so what goes around comes around for them!

@IstillmissEP when you know the history...come back

......and yet you don't know that if it wasn't for colonialism , people would still be dying from broken legs, and performing human sacrifice to appease the gods.

Yes, yes...😂@puck61

Those who call themselves patriots with bibles in hand.

...making murica great again, whatever the hell that meant?

Before a black president maybe?

Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all other countries because you were born in it.” George Bernard Shaw

I did no such thing. You are full of it. I’m also not a Christian, so I’m not even in this game, just pointing out hypocrisy when I see it. @SW-User
Carazaa · F
@Carissimi I am hard on Christians yes! We have to be wotlrthy of the walk if we are followers of Jesus! There are many false churches and false Christs in the last days; and we are in the last days!

@Carissimi

1- I am the resident godless heathen , no seriously...
See my string activity, or ask Carazaa.

2- ”You sound like a Pharisee. ”
Admittedly is a great line. Apologies, I didn’t know the reference point
👍🏻
Parts of the country experiencing abject poverty. The life expectancy of men on the Pine Ridge reservation is about that of men in the third world in Haiti. Sections of the South deep in generational poverty. Parts of the Appalachians with not only endemic poverty but opioid addiction. Inner cities that are war zones. It's an embarrassment as we've been full of shit about doing anything about them. Resources to do so are squandered, wasted. Misappropriated. Then cut for being ineffective, when the work has often never started.

@CopperCicada I just made a large donation, (for me), to St. Joseph's School near Pine Ridge. My cousin adopted a little boy from there because both of his parents had died, and his grandmother could no longer take care of him. He returned to the rez when he was grown, (which is full of gangs), got involved with a gang and is now in jail.

It breaks your heart. But the truth is there are some places that can't break free of the toxic cycle in which they find themselves, due to location, jobs, misappropriation of funds, or laws still on the books.

@IstillmissEP everywhere that the klan burned a cross
indyjoe · 56-60, M
Most of my embarrassment of being an American comes from other Americans, not the country itself.
Jm31xxx · 41-45, M
@indyjoe like the Americans from Texas?
indyjoe · 56-60, M
@Jm31xxx I've said all I'm going to on this subject. I was talking about Americans in general and not from any particular place.
bearinthehalfwayhouse · 26-30, M
Well I'm not one to judge but I think Texas is far from the worst... LA would be my first thought. ┬┴┬┴┤•ᴥ•ʔ

It is people like you...who are not just alive and well in America, but everywhere.

Edited to add:

I am not embarrassed by these people... I don't place myself in the same category..just because I live here with idiots doesn't mean I am an idiot.

But hey..whatever floats your boat
