SweetMae · 70-79, F
Hanscom AFB My husband got a call and I didn't see him for a few days. He was locked into the command center. Base Housing was on lock down. We had to have our doors locked and our curtains drawn. Our children were taken from the high school by armed guards and dropped off at home. It was a very scary time.
@SweetMae I bet. 🖤🤗

@DarkHeaven 💕🤗
I was in my second year of graduate school and had been married 3 months. I saw a bunch of people looking at a TV in a student center on my college campus, and when I asked what had happened, someone said that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. I was like, 👀.
@DonaldTrumpet Not really, lol.
DonaldTrumpet · 70-79, M
@latinbutterfly coupLez of tiemZ a week?
@latinbutterfly I was in the Midwest US. It seemed far away but not because it was in our country. Sort of hard to explain.

I was on my way to work, freaking out when I saw the planes flying so low on approach to Logan they looked like they were going to crash
SW-User
@4meAndyou So you actually saw the planes?
4meAndyou · F
@SW-User Not THE planes. I saw two airplanes on their way to Logan. All planes were being ordered to land at once. Altitudes were reduced by the tower at Logan. If you have ever seen a jumbo jet fly over the highway at about 300 feet altitude it is terrifying. I didn't know why it was happening. The radio was on, and then I heard that the Pentagon had been hit...and I went into shock...really. I felt so unreal and distant and I don't know how I got to work.
SW-User
@4meAndyou I can only imagine how traumatizing the whole thing was for you😔Sorry
Fairydust · F
I was working and didn’t find out until later, I walked into my brothers house and everyone was in complete shock watching the news. 😔
SW-User
@Fairydust The people jumping out of buildings traumatized the shit out of me.

At home when I found out about and then later to school. I was too young to really understand the gravity of the situation, though.
SW-User
I was in 8th grade. Got home from school and the TV was on CNN showing what had happened, and I just stood there in total shock.
Cant remember tbh i was soooo young
@DarkHeaven WHAT!!!
@TryingtoLava I’ll be 44 in a couple weeks. I thought you knew.

MissLlyn · 26-30, F
in school not knowing what going on around me.
@MissLlyn That’s how I felt during the challenger explosion. All us kids were watching the launch and it blew up on TV. We looked at the teacher, like what just happened. She turned the tv off and left the room and it got really freakin’ quiet.
My probation officer was the first to tell me then turned the monitor around so that I could see it off the internet. After seeing my reaction, he discontinued my monthly visits stating that in his opinion I no longer needed them. My compassion outweighs my anger.
At home. I was with my girlfriend Toni in our apartment. I was between gigs, so I was just hanging out playing guitar. Got a call from my Mom and turned on the news. It was so surreal. I was in shock.
Tatsumi · 31-35, M

SW-User
@PiecingBabyFaceTogether Wow. Weren't you traumatised by the visuals?
@SW-User Tbh not really probably because I'm Egyptian I mean it wasn't my country so I wasn't as scared by it like an American kid would be.
