american here. colonial territories fought constantly in pre-constitution America and gun battles were constant. Canada's settlements were sparse pre-confederation - skirmishes weren't as common or widespread. i'm fairly certain Canada adopted a gun law after consulting with British law makers with respect to 'frontier' gun control - it's not to do with Canadian's being pussies.
