How do you stay positive when you feel really low?

Picklebobble2 · 56-60, M
Avoid those who aggravate you.
Immerse yourself in the things and people you love.
Leave social media alone.

@Picklebobble2 This last thing is key. Social media tends to have a way of intensifying any aggravation you may already be feeling.

@SW-User I get that but where does someone turn when they feel its their only way of being heard..let's imagine no friends or family they can trust or count on?
SW-User
@FoleysFollies That can be really lonely and difficult. There are a lot of really kind supportive people here on SW, fortunately.

My mother passed when I was 12. My sister is currently doing her residency after finishing med school and has terminal cancer. Others have experienced far worse.

I have learned to be extremely grateful for each moment of life. I have learned to be present and and to see the gift of each and every moment. We are guaranteed absolutely nothing, I am thankful for what I have.

FoleysFollies · 51-55, F
@SW-User I love the gratitude list and definitely comedy ( kind of a crutch for me) I'm kind of lazy about the physical stuff lol but trying 😊

Alcohol.😆🤭😎 But seriously, I have my days, my moments, and sometimes, I just can't seem to get get out of that funk. Finally, I get up off my butt, load the boat in the back of my ol' Dodge, and get out on the water. Doesn't matter if I catch any fish or not, just being out there seems to make everything okay.😔☺️🤗
I am haunted by waters.
FoleysFollies · 51-55, F
@Montanaman me too (the water part) Mississippi was in my back yard growing up.but your right about the getting off your ass part ..wish my body would listen to my mind lol 😊
Montanaman · M
@FoleysFollies you should read Walk on Water, by Lorian Hemingway. She grew up in the muddy waters of Mississippi. 👍🤗

If, and when I can, I take a nap. I get up, hydrate, journal a little and maybe take a walk. For me, it's like hitting a reset button.
