How come some autistic/Asperger's people feel left out?

I have an autistic cousin and she said most people in our family leave her out of things. Our cousins leave her out. I'm basically the only one that hangs with her. I feel so bad for her. She is 20

Nobody really likes being around or is afraid of being with someone that’s different. Sorry to say but it’s the truth. I’m autistic so I know how she feels.

Quite often the emotional responses of autistic people are very different in how they see the world. I'm sure you know this. Imagine if something that provoked happiness in you, provoked sadness in them? Often people don't know how to respond to emotions they don't anticipate and respond by isolating the person away from them. It is very sad.

To answer your question, it’s probably because they are being left out. Sad to say but it’s true.
But it’s not just those with some sort of illness. Everyday people feel the same way.

But, you’re changing that for her and that’s awesome. ❤️

@SimplyTracie I don't think it's right for them to be left out like that. Is that even a fact? My cousin said it's a dead fact.

@LaurieKitKat94 No, it isn’t right. She’s special and so are you. She has you and she is blessed. ❤️

At least she can talk. Some can't. Talk to your cousins about it.

@BoobooSnafu Ohhh okay I took your word madness at first degree.

Yes.
@RosaDawn well, it was getting that way...he was getting to the point that he wpuld scream if anyone, including myself, would come near him.
RosaDawn · 46-50, F
@BoobooSnafu Yes. I believe you.

I guess it just makes their life easier to leave her out of things, or they mistakenly assume that she can't join in. You're right, it is pretty sad.

@SW-User That's harsh

@LaurieKitKat94 It is, and I'm only guessing, but yeah, it would be very harsh.
They feel that way because they are.

It takes effort to understand them, and flexibility to help them engage.

Many don't have that.

You do well to include her - thankyou for being that way!

People are selfish and self-centred.

@LaurieKitKat94 we Also perceive aspects of life differently sometimes.

We may put stinger emphasis on things that others don't,... Like accuracy... Or honesty... Etc.

Others can think this weird that we adhere to some things so strongly.

And that's not even including the sensory issues.
