What are you opinions about this controversial meme?

I honestly want to know what people think about it. Is it funny, is it true, is it ignorant?
Primnproper · 56-60, F
I think it implies that maybe sometimes people are over sensitive..
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@Master1A: I think they make it worse sometimes...people get so sick of hearing them go on about it, it makes them bitter towards it..
NineLives · 41-45, F
@Master1A: I love fried chicken too! So scrumptious! 👍
Primnproper · 56-60, F
@NineLives: exactly..
carpediem · 61-69, M
The meme is unfortunately true. The term "racist" is so overused today, it almost has no impact when it's used.
It's not really funny, but it is basically accurate.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
Racial stereotypes are just as useless and stupid no matter whom they are about. However, they are far more destructive toward minorities in any society.
NineLives · 41-45, F
Well I'm torn about it. After all, this is simply a joke, not really an attack.
To say white girls like pumpkin spice lattes and black people like fried chicken is like saying Italians like spaghetti and meatballs.
I don't really see the insult, because every group has its stereotypes. I'm not a woman who likes to do my make-up and hair and go shopping, yet I laugh at those stereotypical jokes. It is the same with guys liking football and beer! Some men can't stand either of those things, but they accept the joke for what it is.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@NineLives: Agreed. Well said.
greenmountaingal · 70-79, F
Many people, like the posters above, do see the humor in these silly stereotypes and have the good sense not to take these stereotypes seriously. I'm a blonde who laughs at blond jokes, for instance. It's the few who do take stereotypes seriously, especially the ugly bad stereotypes , who create the problems. And for some minority people those problems have included some very violent, even deadly behaviors. That is the reason some people seem overly sensitive about these mostly harmless stereotypes.
KunaiVax · 41-45, M
Not really funny, but very acurate.
MysteryBe · F
It is ignorant and I dont put up with people saying that crap. So, I love watermelon and I'm not even black. How stupid that sounds.
NineLives · 41-45, F
Well I like watermelon, fried chicken, pumpkin spice lattes, and spaghetti and meatballs too. 👍
Never even heard of a pumpkin spice latte... But fried chicken is fuckin awesome so, what was the question? Oh yeah, he's the best joker!! 😉
MasterDvdC · 61-69, M
Unfortunately it's true
Master1A · 70-79, M
Absolutely true. On every level.
I guess if there had been a history of oppressing and marginalizing white girls, keeping them segregated from mainstream society; that might be comparable. Since there isn't and a stereotype about them liking a particular type of latte isn't even universal, it's just another way of trivializing actual racism where people's lives have been changed.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@deadmau5: Congrats. Life is good.
NineLives · 41-45, F
@carpediem: @deadmau5: I'm really sorry carpediem and deadmau5 if my post caused you guys any trouble. I just thought it might be an interesting, yet controversial thing to discuss. Honestly, I didn't think things would get this heated!
ZefNinja · 41-45, M
@NineLives: I found it interesting.
goagainsttheflow · 26-30, F
I can't tell because I've never heard someone say that in real life (just from trolls looking for attention online) but personally I don't think either are funny, but I also don't feel offended about them. Everybody likes fried chicken, black people included. Same with pumpkin spice. If not in Starbucks coffee then perhaps in other snacks like caramel popcorn (like me, and you should definitely try it).
sighmeupforthat · 46-50, M
oh not all girls like spiced pumpkin everything... oh my god you should hear the protests! (they and i get that joke.. but....)

but.. i hear "blacks" going... "you knocking me for loving good food, that being chicken a'la fried? what? you some kind of racist?"

i guess it's regional.
You hear "blacks going" that way ?
Groofydorkgerdo · 56-60, M
Funny and true
Not funny....idk if its true ..seems like angry sarcasm to me.( i mean look at his face) he's not telling a funny joke.just my opinion.
Master1A · 70-79, M
Just a question, do you know who that is in the picture?
@Master1A: yes why? ..its Health Ledger the joker from batman..lol..its dark humor I suppose.. .I personally don't find that character funny at all.
SerenitiesScars · 31-35, M
🤔 I thought everyone liked fried chicken tbh...

I guess I don't talk to enough white girls about what coffees they drink to get it really.. *Shrugs*
LoveChild · 26-30, F
It's really dumb. Everyone loves fried chicken- so there's no basis for wit here.
LovelyGorilla · 22-25, F
Well...it is kinda true so..
But this didn't make laugh js

It's a urban legend 🙊
Chickie · F
I think they are both funny but it depends on how they mean it.
maxlaff · 56-60, M
Of course it's true. It's just not constructive to call attention to it
carpediem · 61-69, M
I disagree. It's very constructive.
@carpediem: are bijoux's comments constructive?
