What are you opinions about this controversial meme?

I honestly want to know what people think about it. Is it funny, is it true, is it ignorant?

I guess if there had been a history of oppressing and marginalizing white girls, keeping them segregated from mainstream society; that might be comparable. Since there isn't and a stereotype about them liking a particular type of latte isn't even universal, it's just another way of trivializing actual racism where people's lives have been changed.
NineLives · 41-45, F
We have so many stereotypes though and all people have had their fair share of persecution through out history.
@NineLives: I don't expect you to understand. You wouldn't have asked the question if you had.
NineLives · 41-45, F
@bijouxbroussard: How would you not expect me to understand? I could be african american for all you know. That seems a bit presumptuous to me!
Then you would be a sheltered and ignorant one. And you could be, that's absolutely true. But I don't usually see these kinds of comparisons from other African Americans.

@NineLives: Jewish people for thousands of years. Irish people in the US. My relatives were persecuted for hundreds of years and mass murdered after WW2 in eastern Europe. None of that matters.

Well then I guess I was wrong when I commented on: Say something nice about someone else on SW. And I put " I really like bijouxbroussard's questions and comments, because even if we don't agree on certain things, she always is polite and friendly!"

Awkward! 😐

@NineLives: Bijoux is on one of her poor me tirades. Only black people are unjustly treated in this world. Everything is racist, and no one has suffered like she has. Soon, she'll block you. If you're lucky.
@carpediem: why doesn't it matter?
ZefNinja · 41-45, M
How long should white people have walk on eggshells when it comes to not upsetting black people? You talk about a history of oppression, but when do we move on and forget about all that? As a white person should I have suffer with blacks wanting to be treated like victims because of things that happened before i was born?
@NineLives: Sorry to disappoint. I am very sensitive considering what's going on right now. That was kind of you, in any case.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@ImperialAerosolKidFromEP: Well it does matter to most Imperial. Thanks for asking. But not to Ms. Bijoux. She's invested in only her race being the only ones persecuted to the point where it matters. Thus her frequent rants on racial equality, or inequality as it were.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@deadmau5: Exactly. Maybe acting like people and not victims is a place to start.
@deadmau5: Maybe when we stop hearing about unarmed people getting shot by police. Maybe if Donald Trump loses. Maybe when people stop painting swastikas on dorm rooms where black students live. Maybe never. The gulf seems wider than it's ever been.
ZefNinja · 41-45, M
@bijouxbroussard: The simple solution to your problem, is to turn off the television
@deadmau5: Snarkiness doesn't help your problem, and mine doesn't go away when I'm not watching tv.
ZefNinja · 41-45, M
@bijouxbroussard: You don't think the media are inciting hatred?
@deadmau5: I agree that they're not helping things one bit. But I've also seen the comments people make based upon what they believe to be true.
ZefNinja · 41-45, M
@bijouxbroussard: So these comments you have seen give justification for blacks to play the role of victims and whites to carry the shame for what our ancestors did? That makes no sense sorry.
@deadmau5: it means we're not at a point where we can joke and make comparisons about it. We may never be. You think black people are "playing victims" so nothing I could tell you I've seen or experienced firsthand would make any difference. You're tired of hearing about it, I'm tired of living it. And that's where we are.
ZefNinja · 41-45, M
@bijouxbroussard: when I see posts on here about the subject of racism, the majority of people find it boring or humourous. We are at the point where racism is non existent. That is why there are a lot of jokes about racism. Where as racist jokes seem to be dying out.

I think you have become so caught up in fighting racism that you have failed to notice it no longer exists.
@deadmau5: if you think racism no longer exists, you have never been its target because you obviously don't recognize it. This conversation is a waste of time.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@deadmau5: You're not going to get anywhere with that one. Her life is all about playing the victim card.
ZefNinja · 41-45, M
@carpediem: Yeah I've come across her before when I had a different user name.
carpediem · 61-69, M
@deadmau5: It's sad. Fortunately for me, she blocked me yesterday. 👍 Saved me the trouble.
@carpediem: what's sad is that she is being sectarian and exacerbating racial tensions, but because you're being so damn rude, that's all anyone sees
