I Want To Talk About Community

The Notre Dame fire brings to light what is wrong with the world today.
So many super rich "Elite" have scrambled to donate money to rebuild "A Cultural Icon"
I am flabbergasted that these so called Philanthropists donate money to inanimate objects whilst at the same time totally ignore the 30,000 homeless Parisians.
No one speaks for the poor so they will forever remain destitute.

So, what I am hearing is that you dont want the church rebuilt or repaired and you want the people that are donating THEIR own money to repair it, to give it to the homeless. So the French government does not help the homeless at all - is that what I am hearing ?

@MarmeeMarch If the French Government were interested in helping the poor, why are there 30,000 homeless.
Why are so many Parisians living in poverty?
@Gusman There will always be homeless - you can take the money that they are going to use and spend it all on the homeless - which will be good for a while then what ? what happenns to all of that rebuild money after it is given to the homeless ? Will it end homelessness because if it does then I am all for it - but it wont. Meanwhile you have a burnt out church that is a disaster area and might have to be leveled (who is going to pay for that ? ) plus the church brings in about 218 million dollars each year if each visitor wants to see the tower and crypt.

@MarmeeMarch The way to help the homeless is to build them houses to live. A house does not disappear after a year. Housing the homeless gives them permanency.
Gives them a chance to get their lives together. Gives them the opportunity to find work. Takes away the stress of having to fight beatings living on the street.
Gives them dignity which society has taken away.
Every homeless person could be housed if a concerted effort was made.
Even your own country is making inroads into housing the homeless.
Checkout Beyond Shelter US.
All that is required is Political will to expand this concept.
My own country, Australia is not interested in helping/housing the homeless.
There are 120,000 homeless here. 50 per 10,000 More per capita than the US. 17/10,000
@Gusman What world are you living in ? - you say 30K homeless in France so maybe you will need 8000 homes - OK where are the homes going to be built - hate to say this but they will need a lot more money that what it will take to rebuild the cathedral. I live in the USA - OK so dont feed me that homeless BS - and save me that pie in the sky BS that you want to give out other peoples money to help the less fortunate instead of doing what they want. So you are assuming these people that want to donate to rebuild the church -dont donate to the poor already ? Save me your preaching mister - you are out of your league here.

@MarmeeMarch My opinion has been given

@MarmeeMarch I agree with @Gusman. The fact that you can't even consider that money given to Notre dame would be more beneficial to trying to alleviate the homeless crisis is madness. I may point out that the Vatican has its own bank, so they really don't need the money.
I'm not saying that people cannot donate money to where ever they want but don't expect people not to see the irony
@Gusman So has mine.
