I Want To Talk About Community

The Notre Dame fire brings to light what is wrong with the world today.
So many super rich "Elite" have scrambled to donate money to rebuild "A Cultural Icon"
I am flabbergasted that these so called Philanthropists donate money to inanimate objects whilst at the same time totally ignore the 30,000 homeless Parisians.
No one speaks for the poor so they will forever remain destitute.

I agree with you but it's there choice how they want to spend their money and the church obviously means a lot to them.

@Lostpoet The doctrine of the Church is to look after the down and outs. Surely there would be more Societal Kudos in giving to the poor rather than a building.
Christianity has lost it's way, big time

@Lostpoet yeah......it's good marketing for them.
We have rich people in the UK saying they will give cash to Notre dame but not even a single word from the very same people when grenfell tower burnt down. Over 70 people lost their lives and their homes destroyed

@gol979 So many people defend the rich who donate to non essential causes and poo poo the suggestion that the down and outs should be helped

@Gusman we are trained to direct our anger laterally and downward when it should be directed upwards......the vulnerable are an easy target and denigrating the less fortunate makes us feel better (allegedly)

@gol979 Which is why my first sentence in this post says it all.
Priorities all wrong.
