@SW-User well you can say that but the apple doesn't far from the tree and as humans we conduct lab/social experiments on animals. So who's to say we aren't exactly that for another life form?
There's no concrete proof of how we came into existence. In truth everything is a theory to a degree some of which has some supporting evidence. But we as society accept common beliefs. We always have.

one idea is we are not ready,, planet still under the control of criminal syndicates, constantly at wars, constantly preying on each other and destroying the planetary environment.

I don't know why I never see anyone bring up the possibility that other alien civilizations just haven't advanced far enough for space travel just like we haven't.

@TheOneyouwerewarnedabout Not too likely. It's difficult to imagine an interstellar capable life form with access to countless planets not having both awareness and possession of elements and amounts of matter this non interstellar population probably doesn't even have a clue exists.
I was thinking more along the lines of recovering lost genetic information or useful intellectual viewpoints. Rare things. Indeed , in a large galaxy as old as this we might be useful in some sort of a historical perspective. Maybe just to study the atmosphere or the vegetation.
