At this time if you are white and conservative, you are considered a labeled a racist bigot! Sad!
VioletRayne · 36-40, F
@13sorento But why is that?
13sorento · 51-55, M
Liberals! Most of them just assume someone is a racist bigot because he or she is a Trump supporter!

Politics itself has gone insane.

@amvanquish because Middle East politics is so rational?
AlmostAnAngel · 100+, F
@JoeyFoxx none of it is rational any longer
JoeyFoxx · 56-60, M
Agreed. @AlmostAnAngel

I do think the PC police have gone overboard to provide the ignorant air cover for being able to say things and get support from like minded folks.
When every blunt statement is deemed “insensitive” then we aren’t able to communicate difficult ideas. And then when someone says something that’s actually wrong, they blame the PC police and the topic goes into a black hole.
Part of the reason that Trump is able to rant about “fake news” is that there actually is a lot of exaggeration in media and many people cannot tell the difference. So then he gets to label wherever the he’ll he wants as fake and his followers nod their collective heads.
So it goes with political correctness.
If everything said is insensitive, then nothing is insensitive.

@JoeyFoxx Thats an interesting way to look at it.
JoeyFoxx · 56-60, M
@VioletRayne I have my moments
VioletRayne · 36-40, F
I don’t think so. I have come across a lot of people who get mad because they can’t spew racial epithets at people without blowback and then scream political correctness is the worst. I think there’s a limit to it but I also don’t think it’s right for people to be allowed to harass and demean others for their sex, race, religion, or sexual preference. It really doesn’t take that much effort to be respectful.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@VioletRayne again I totally agree. The cult of work is definitely an issue as is the education system......but the more people become aware of these subjects and that there is an alternative then collective consciousness will play a part.....that's very optimistic ☺
On the flip side of that, what we are seeing now is minorities being demonized for all issues and not that it is systemic and therefore we are lurching massively to the right. In fact historically it is looking a lot like Germany circa 1930s, economically and other narrative. But we have that lesson to guide us and sources of information to help guide is through those baser thoughts

@gol979 You see it and a lot of others see it, but the problem is that there are far too many who see unity and fairness as a threat to their rapidly diminishing foothold on power.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@VioletRayne well you've just said it...... "Rapidily diminishing". So they can only maintain that through violence (in the end) because people are beginning to realise that what we have isn't a democracy, it's the illusion of democracy
YES. George Carlin, when he was still alive, had a number of comedy routines that exposed that very well. He talks about "soft language". That language that tales the life out of life and how it is a function of time.

@SW-User I get that and there's context there, "it's all fun". But obviously what you are saying could be construed as quite controversial (" you really don't want to know! "), so would say this stuff to a stranger and if that person took offense would you consider that PC crap?

Yes and now clannishness is rising up to meet it, looking very ugly all round.
VioletRayne · 36-40, F
@JoeyFoxx lmaooo that’s part of the problem people shouldn’t have to be alike to work towards a common goal. Acceptance, understanding, and effective communication skills is what we need.

What do you mean by political correctness?
smiler2012 · 61-69
amvanquish yes the pc brigade have certainly made there mark and like to be heard and view there opinions
PoetryNEmotion · F
Does it even exist anymore?
indyjoe · 56-60, M
@PoetryNEmotion Oh yes it still exists...it's just not about words and terms anymore, it's shifted focus and changed venues.
PoetryNEmotion · F
@indyjoe How so?
indyjoe · 56-60, M
To institutional levels...
luckranger71 · 51-55, M
It has. We’re told that criticism of the President is derangement and that loving the Confederate flag is about state rights and Southern pride. Let’s just call things as they are!!
