Has political correctness gone mad?

I don’t think so. I have come across a lot of people who get mad because they can’t spew racial epithets at people without blowback and then scream political correctness is the worst. I think there’s a limit to it but I also don’t think it’s right for people to be allowed to harass and demean others for their sex, race, religion, or sexual preference. It really doesn’t take that much effort to be respectful.

@VioletRayne same with free speech......that's a genuine concern but it has been slightly appropriated. Also the term liberal......that should be a compliment but now is an insult. Maybe it has something to do with people in power claiming they are liberal and being anything but......hence the transformation of the word?

@gol979 I think it has to do with the polarization that’s happening. Any term that is associated with the opposing group will get demonized. Conservative is now synonymous with Heartless n Racist and Liberal is now synonymous with overly emotional n whiny depending on what side of the fence you’re standing on.

@VioletRayne I totally agree. We have to be careful to keep control of the meaning of words and not let our own words (and the meanings they mean personally) to be misconstrued

@gol979 I think it’s a battle we’ve already lost. When things don’t go as planned people look for someone to blame instead of looking in the mirror. There are those who will prey on that tendency and they always seem to find a large group willing to subscribe to their trickery. It’s just life.

@VioletRayne it's not just life.....that's apathy. If we have a critical mind and learn (from various sources, not the mainstream) then we will not be tricked. It's a big ask but I think with the openness of the internet (which they're trying to control again) then there's a chance something better will organically grow spiritually and economically (big change needed in economics and politics)

@gol979 The problem with that is when you’re working two jobs just to come home n have to help the kids with homework, cook, n clean, when do you have time to stay informed or the energy to critically think. 50% of the American population is making less that 40,000 a year. That’s crazy.

@VioletRayne again I totally agree. The cult of work is definitely an issue as is the education system......but the more people become aware of these subjects and that there is an alternative then collective consciousness will play a part.....that's very optimistic ☺
On the flip side of that, what we are seeing now is minorities being demonized for all issues and not that it is systemic and therefore we are lurching massively to the right. In fact historically it is looking a lot like Germany circa 1930s, economically and other narrative. But we have that lesson to guide us and sources of information to help guide is through those baser thoughts

@gol979 You see it and a lot of others see it, but the problem is that there are far too many who see unity and fairness as a threat to their rapidly diminishing foothold on power.
gol979 · 41-45, M
@VioletRayne well you've just said it...... "Rapidily diminishing". So they can only maintain that through violence (in the end) because people are beginning to realise that what we have isn't a democracy, it's the illusion of democracy
