Have you ever been called for Jury Duty? (both)

I was called about 20 years ago. The case was one where someone crashed into a car parked on the side of a country road and cause major injuries to the owner of the parked car.
The person who hit him was charged with "Reckless Driving causing injury"
Found him not guilty because the parked car was on a corner and the other car had really no time to take evasive action.
Trial took two days.
I was paid two days wages, tax free.

I have been called in three times, and each time i didn't make the short list that the legal teams choose from so i was dismissed. I waited around for hours though and got some money for it, although that went straight to my work to offset my wages.

@Keepitsimple I guess if they're being paid at work,5 bucks is ok! I hope they get free parking too! Lol! It's expensive here to park down town.

@Eddiesolds only if the parking lot isn’t full so u can you get your ticket validated or walk blocks away. This is Atlantic City the court house so they shove it up your you know what if not.

@Eddiesolds I had a lot of trouble at school and college sitting still all day and it often made me sick. Then having to do homework was even worse.

@Keepitsimple The US must have a different system than Australia. Here it is a random draw from the Electoral Roll, so as to get a real cross section of society.

I don’t know how it works I just know that I get called every three years. I wouldn’t mind it but it’s all BS. I would be a juror every time too except Now I know that if I say I don’t trust medical documentation the judge says to me “thank you, you’re excused.@Gusman

Three times.
Gusman · 61-69, M
@LyricalOne Wow, that is a lot. I would have thought once in a lifetime would have been to norm.
I live in a city of 2 million people, surely the odds of being picked again would be virtually nil?
LyricalOne · F
@Gusman I was in New York at the time. 😉

I was just after my 18th birthday. It was at a coroners court. Wasn't too interesting. But it was cool being called up.
Starbursteffect · 56-60, F
Yes. A guy robbed a local business. He was pleading not guilty, but the shoe print he left behind matched the shoes he wore to the court trial. Smart.

In my entire life I've been summoned for jury duty twice. Blew it off both times. Never heard another word about it.
SweetMae · 70-79, F

Yes. A couple put a pillow over their baby’s face so it wouldn’t get high while they did.
