Have you ever been called for Jury Duty? (both)

I was called about 20 years ago. The case was one where someone crashed into a car parked on the side of a country road and cause major injuries to the owner of the parked car.
The person who hit him was charged with "Reckless Driving causing injury"
Found him not guilty because the parked car was on a corner and the other car had really no time to take evasive action.
Trial took two days.
I was paid two days wages, tax free.

I have been called in three times, and each time i didn't make the short list that the legal teams choose from so i was dismissed. I waited around for hours though and got some money for it, although that went straight to my work to offset my wages.

@Gusman You must work for yourself i guess unless the system has changed? Mine was sent to my company as they were obligated to pay me while i was on jury duty. Apparently though what jury duty paid wasn't equal to my wage so my company had to make up the difference. It might have changed since then though. This was about 15 years ago.

@Keepitsimple Wow you're kidding? How are you supposed to pay your bills and rent etc on that if the trial goes on for days?

If you work they probably pay you..I’m not sure..to be honest I worked for family so I got paid regardless. Somebody else might have the answer to that.@SW-User

@SW-User About 1994? Paid at the same rate as my wage. I was working as a tradesman. Got a check in the mail for about $350.

@Keepitsimple I guess if they're being paid at work,5 bucks is ok! I hope they get free parking too! Lol! It's expensive here to park down town.

@Eddiesolds only if the parking lot isn’t full so u can you get your ticket validated or walk blocks away. This is Atlantic City the court house so they shove it up your you know what if not.
