Why would anyone want to go to a family event with family that doesnt care about you?

I got invited to my cousin's wedding on my dads side of the family. Really queen? That side of the family hasn't been bothered with me or my sisters in well over a decade. They never really gave a crap about us ever. It was more about the cousins. In a way I have a feeling it was because they always thought my mother wasnt good enough and I think they think we are trash too. The last family event for them I went to was probably a quinceanera

The only family events I’ll be attending are things related to my sisters, their graduations and weddings for example. They’re both a lot younger than me so hopefully this won’t happen for a while.

Fun story: at my graduation party, in front of my parents and friends my grandmother told me I’d make a great stripper.
