It's been a while since our last announcement, but we'd like to give you an update of what we've been releasing in the past few months.
Post Collections 📒
With Collections, you can organize your posts into sections, series, favorites, topics, indexes, etc... This is your area. Anyone who can access your profile will also be able to view your collections, but they can only see the posts they have access to, based on each post's privacy setting.
Your collections appear above the posts in your profile:
If you haven't set up your first Collection yet, you can go on your profile, scroll down to any post, and press "Add to Collection" on the bottom-right corner of that post.
Linked Accounts 👥
Users are usually allowed to have more than one account, as long as none of the accounts cause conflicts with other users.
If you have more than one account, you can link them to make it easier to switch between them, without having to Log Out and Log In every time.
To Link or Switch accounts, you can open the Header menu and then select "Linked Accounts":
You can unlink accounts at any time.
Suggested Posts 📑
We have added some Suggested Posts at the bottom of some pages, like Posts and Groups.
This will make it easier for users to find related posts and older posts to get a bit more exposure (= views/comments).
Translate & Feed Language Preference 🌍
You can now Translate posts and comments between English and Spanish, and there is a new option in the Feed to give preference to either language.
This is still experimental. It might change in the future and we might add support for more languages.
Recent Gifts 🎁
To make it easier to find new Gifts that have been added to the Gift Store, we have added a new section that shows Recently Added Gifts. You can find it in the first tab:
Keep an eye in it!
Recent Searches 🔎
Your recently searched terms will appear to you when you open the Search dropdown.
You can remove them at any time:
New Sign Up & Log In interface, and updates to the Front Page 🚀
We have greatly improved our Sign Up & Log In flow.
This should resolve some of the issues many users (or potential users) were finding with the interface.
We've also added the menu to the SW header bar, to make it consistent with the rest of the site and easier to navigate.
---
Thank you for your support.
We are constantly listening to your suggestions, so please keep giving them to us, as they are very important to the future of Similar Worlds.
I have a suggestion can I have maybe 50,000 coins please as most users would know I'm always posting about not having any as I'm the most loved user here but people can't send coins to other users so I'm asking can you guys add to my profile please
@OogieBoogie while it was intended by the admin to list "all" posts, there is a bit of a time lag, and the admin made that page.
As to how, I forget how I found it. Possibly by an external search on SW or perhaps another user. I'm not the only person here that plays around with the site. Could be in the code, which I am quite familiar with.
Heck I once downloaded the css code to this site which I found many little facts about the site.🙃😈😁
@SW-User We didn't have "Linked Accounts" for many years on SW, and that didn't stop anyone from creating alt accounts anyway.
As I said clearly in the announcement:
Users are usually allowed to have more than one account, as long as none of the accounts cause conflicts with other users.
There are several users who are currently NOT allowed to have alt accounts, because they have created conflicts with other users.
Having this feature (which also exists on Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, etc...) is simply a convenience for those who RESPECT our Terms of Service and having multiple accounts is not causing conflicts with anyone.
Whether we have Linked Accounts or not, makes no difference in whether users create accounts to circumvent blocks/limits or to cause trouble.
Hey, numbnuts, how's about when I just want to see the most recent posts in the order they were received I can see them? That doesn't happen anymore. All of this other crap you think is important just isn't. Fix it! Fix it!
So I obviously believe that a limit of 20 collections is way too few. I'd suggest at least 100, although 500 would be ideal.
The member should be either able to prioritize the collection list as to their own preference or they should be automatically listed in alphabetical order instead of the most recent creation collection being on top.
Also, since they are just links that take up very little storage space, there should be an ability to list a post in more than one collection (say up to three different ones).
Perhaps the higher limit of collections (and multiple collection options) for VIP members?
Thank you . Any luck on getting a way to mass delete photos ? The one by one method is ridiculously slow. How about a page at a time ? Even with that I will have 445 pages to delete . Help! 😉
I really like that you're pushing the whole collection system, I think it was great already. It's REALLY awesome that you can link two different accounts! I imagine many people having different accounts for different purposes. I hope people will actually use that, I know I will. Awesome work on translation too. Good idea with search items appearing... All around amazing update tbh. What we REEALLY need now is just MORE PEOPLE to enjoy it! ❣️
Hey Guys ... Thank you very much for the collections feature. Love it. And I'm working to organize some of my posts into it. Very much appreciated. I'll update you in a bit on how it's working. :)
@Peaches What duplicate? The story is just posted one time. It will be visible straight up on your profile in chronological order and it will be visible in the collection.
Do you want the ability to remove it from the general profile view? I can see reasons for that.
@Andrew & @Nuno - Have you guys thought of that? Maybe a check box to make the story only visible in the collection?
@sarabee1995 No, I was thinking we could remove them from the groups we can't post in anymore. I'm trying to move posts from groups we can't post in anymore and get rid of those groups. 😔 What's the use in staying in groups we can't post in anymore? On regular stories, you can repost and delete the duplicate.😊
Very kind and thoughtful of you to let us know. I have a question about the "collections" and groups we can't post in anymore. I'd like to get rid of the groups we can't post in anymore, so I've been moving some of my stories to "collections," when I went back to delete the stories in the old groups they disappeared?! I had to get them and re-add from the deleted posts section. On regular posts/stories you can repost and delete the older ones. Can a fix be done for the stories in the new collections as well?
I truly hope your new year is starting out nicely.🥳 Thank you for adding new gifts as well. Warm hugs to you and the rest of the SW Team.💞😘
@NerdyPotato Bummer! I was hoping to move them out of the groups we can't post in anymore. What a mess....updating and outmoding groups before we knew it?!😐 How can we "spam" our own posts?!🤔🤭
@TheSirfurryanimalWales Hello. My understanding is that DuckDuckGo browser does not have a way to save username/password, so I'm not sure how are you getting this problem. Are you using any kind of other password manager?
@Nuno So I just tried logging out and got straight back in....but that was not the case on Saturday evening when the site stubbornly refused to let me in for some time.
No idea what caused that. And I’m just using the iPads saved passwords option.
@Rokasu I personally don't understand the convenience of more than one account?🤔Can you see saying to your friends, "hi everyone! Here I am on my alternate account, what's new"?! I'd find it difficult to maintain more than one account.😏It sure would keep you busy and on line longer. That would be in the best interest of social websites I suppose.
@Classified You should never share your password with anyone else. If you ever link your accounts with someone else's, you're basically compromising your account and giving full control to the other person. Please don't do that.
I think sign ups should be made easier by letting you use Google, FB, twitter, etc to sign up. Also, here's an idea for showing recent searches. There was once a site called so.cl owned by Microsoft. Anything you searched for on that site was made public, that was one of it's weird features. I miss that place.
And yet I personally want to have posts that are not categorized. A lot of times, I don't know how to label the posts I make or have them bottled up in certain ways. To just make a post and not wonder if its theme is educational, funny, heartfelt, or whatever.
Does that mean that I personally am allowed to have a second account for Corvus, or does it still specifically not apply to me? -Lord Shadowfire the Sarcastic
@swirlie I only heard about the policy change in this announcement. Thing is, having multiple accounts was never technically frowned on. We've always been able to have up to three active accounts, according to the rules I read when I first joined.
