The media portrays women as crazy nimpho gold diggers.
@GuyWithOpinions That same media portrays men as crazy women-hating killers.

My current boyfriend is either a 3 or 6 I think

But I don't want to be married again at the moment anyways.
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
At this stage of my life after a divorce and broken engagement I’m happier being single than I was in either of those situations
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@saragoodtimes I’m not counting on it. The good ones like you are spoken for 😘
@JesseInTX he came along at just the right time and I would have missed out if Tex hadn't told me go for it
JesseInTX · 51-55, M
@saragoodtimes my miss his gain. But you know how happy I am for you that it’s worked out 😘

Families have more than one person in them.
They have their needs. Can you rise to the challenge.
HumanEarth · F
Goes both ways, its a dumped and leave em world now days. The days like my marriage seem to have died off. It seems no one wants the long term commitment these days
PerfectionOfTheHeart · 46-50, F
Other options:

Less drama

They were emotionally beaten down by too many women and need some time for themselves

They get to save more of the money they earn

They enjoy the peaceful environment being single can bring

They get to do what they want, when they want without someone they care for making them feel like shit for it

In charge of the remote

My marriage never worked out so I chose to stay single
Ultimately, it’s less complicated (and this is true for women, too).
Sapio · 51-55, M
Too comfortable being alone.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
Because I am selfish. And want the best for myself
Justmeraeagain · 56-60, F
Maybe they just like being single?
@Justmeraeagain Yeah…I’m not comfortable deciding that if a person is unmarried, something must be wrong with them.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F

All of the above + other reasons not mentioned, everyone is different, it could be one reason or a combination.
nobodyishome · 31-35, F
@Sutten Elucidate?
Sutten · 41-45, F
@nobodyishome I said "all of the above" because each of those reasons could apply to some men. A man who had a painful divorce may avoid marriage, another may struggle with commitment, another may have unresolved childhood issues, and another may have unrealistic expectations about relationships. But I also added "other reasons not mentioned" because people are individuals. Some men stay single because they value independence, want to focus on personal goals, haven't met a compatible partner, are caring for family members, or simply prefer being single. Human behavior is usually more complex than a single checkbox, and often it's a combination of factors rather than one reason alone.

First love can ruin a man quietly.

After that heartbreak, he may smile, work, laugh, and move on in front of everyone,
but deep inside, he never really gives his heart the same way again; their first heartbreak changed the way they love forever

That’s why some men choose to stay single.
helsbels · 31-35, F
Wow those are all so negative. As a woman that wants to stay single, it's more about being content and happy as an individual, being 'enough' on my own and not looking to anyone else to 'fulfil' me.
buriedalive · 46-50, M
Me personally it's a combo of the last bullet point and just not being truly interested. I also have an avoidant attachment style.
CrazyMusicLover · 31-35
I guess they prefer to be on their own, just like some women do. They have their own way of life they like and don't want someone else to enter it because they would have to change it.
