Why do some men just want to stay single?

At this stage of my life after a divorce and broken engagement I’m happier being single than I was in either of those situations

Goes both ways, its a dumped and leave em world now days. The days like my marriage seem to have died off. It seems no one wants the long term commitment these days

My marriage never worked out so I chose to stay single

Ultimately, it’s less complicated (and this is true for women, too).

Because I am selfish. And want the best for myself

Too comfortable being alone.

I guess they prefer to be on their own, just like some women do. They have their own way of life they like and don't want someone else to enter it because they would have to change it.

Wow those are all so negative. As a woman that wants to stay single, it's more about being content and happy as an individual, being 'enough' on my own and not looking to anyone else to 'fulfil' me.

Me personally it's a combo of the last bullet point and just not being truly interested. I also have an avoidant attachment style.

The media portrays women as crazy nimpho gold diggers.
