Do you make the classic pie? With ground beef or lamb? I made some last winter but the vegetarian kind with plant-based crumble instead of real meat and it was quite good.
@Ontheroad An English friend once told me that lamb is what differentiates [b]Shepherd鈥檚 Pie[/b] from [i]Cottage Pie, [/i] which uses beef. But I know here, most commercial dishes marketed as "Shepherd鈥檚 Pie" use ground beef. I don鈥檛 eat lamb, so I鈥檝e never tried my friend鈥檚.
Here there鈥檚 a dish called tamale pie that includes taco-seasoned ground beef, corn, chopped tomatoes and peppers (I use mild ones), cheese. The pie shell is yellow corn bread. I suspect it may be a Southwest take on Shepherd/Cottage Pie, but it鈥檚 also good as comfort food.
