Macdonald's, Burger King or Neither?

I use to like Macdonald's but hardly go in nowadays

I have always loved good burgers but I have never been a fan of Maccie D's. Flame-grilled Burger King's are marginally better. My weakness in fast food is KFC original pieces on the bone,

@happygoluckygal I didn't really acquire a taste for whisky until I was in my 30s. I have found a very reasonable Malt at my local cash & carry.

@ArtieKat There is actually a river Spey so I guess it's brewed near there.
I don't think I could drink much alcohol so won't try🙂
@ArtieKat Extra crispy thighs for me, as well as their tenders, I wish they'd bring the twister wraps back, their honey mustard ones were addicting.

I like McDonald’s fries, nuggets, and drinks more. I’m not really a big fan of beef, but if I wanted a hamburger I’d choose Burger King over McDonald’s.
And I think McDonald’s has better deals and rewards
deadgerbil · 26-30, M
@itsok subtle but painful reminder
itsok · 31-35, F
@NativePortlander1970 I look at their deals from time to time and it never seems as good, I guess. I can eat at McDonald’s for like $5ish, and I think it’d be $8+ at BK
@itsok My local McD had lousy deals before the new year, they may have changed them since then, so I'll have to look on the app.

None of those. And I don't watch TV, either. And I turn my car engine off when a long train comes through at a railway crossing.

@SW-User He probably thinks he's a car enthusiast... Pity he does not know how to maintain and drive it properly.
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@SW-User I know one thing. I lived in the country growing up and for 10 years after getting married. I would take long walks back in the 70’s on rural roads. When a car or pickup would drive by the fumes from the tailpipe would about knock me over at times if there was no wind. It was nasty to breathe that while breathing deeper due to walking fast. Had lead in gas back then, pretty sure it was really unhealthy. And I heard joggers saying the very same thing.

@cherokeepatti

Lead. A killer for sure.

I make my own burgers. Much nicer and served hot with fresh salad and extra mature cheese - not that processed orange tasteless cheese.

Neither!!

Nor KFC, Subway, Costa, Starbucks or Cafe Nero.

All down-value, up-price stuff sold on a spurious air of fashion merely by being American.

Costa - as false-Italian as calling plain coffee "Americano" - originated in London but is now American-owned, which did not make it any better. I call it "Costalotta".

I had a spell of using a MacD late in the evening when waiting for a train home after a weekly evening-class course. The shop, near the station, was the only refreshments outlet open late at night. On one and only occasion I also had what was called a "burger": merely a floury bread-roll holding a reconstituted meat-disc daubed with chutney to disguise both having no flavour.

Tried a Subway sandwich once. Reasonable quality, fair value; but when I asked why no salad-cream among the large selection of condiments, I was told they cannot stock it because the menus are dictated from New York! Ironically, the leading make of the salad-cream that has sold so well in the UK for so long is American (Heinz).

There is a regional chain here called Culvers. They have great burgers and custard.

They are more expensive than MacDonald's or BK, and I don't go often, but when i want to go out for a burger, that's where I go.
Kstrong · 56-60, F
The Whopper jr at Burger King, McDonald's french fries, but Wendy's junior bacon cheeseburger
exexec · 70-79, C
Burger King. I don't like McD's burgers. My fast food burger choice is Whataburger
@exexec I'm still hoping In n Out eventually makes it to iowa.
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
Neither I don’t consume fast food and haven’t for a long time

Idk I like both, but I hate how pricy it is
HumanEarth · F
I can't eat either one of their food. It makes me very sick.
HumanEarth · F
I can't do fast food, I find it very gross
StygianKohlrabi · 46-50, M

If I had to, probably BK.
They make an impossible burger that's lovely.
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
Neither I refuse to pay for overpriced food that isn’t that great in quality
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@Moneyonmymind The thing I used to like was Mexican fast food and several years ago started getting the burps after even a single taco so that ended it for me
Moneyonmymind · 31-35, M
@cherokeepatti I try to only grocery shop as that saves me the most money
cherokeepatti · 70-79, F
@Moneyonmymind yes it does, you can make a meal with higher quality ingredients and feed a small family for what a single restaurant meal costs.
As much as I loved McD's at one time, and even cooked for them, BK does have the better deals lately, or they did before the new year.
