I’d prefer them to not happen at all but try telling that to a hick

I think fireworks, though lovely to see, are unnecessary.
They create a huge mess, terrify animals, and risk accidental fires.
There are plenty of harmless ways to celebrate which are far more fun and much healthier both socially and physically, like singing and dancing.
Wildlife have no defences if they can't escape their environment.
WIth pets, because they have many times more sensitive hearing than ours, we should keep them inside in a sound insulated room till the fireworks are over, e.g. place a mattress against the window. There are some dog trainer sites that advise on how to prepare and "desensitise" a dog to reduce its fear and stress. But that doesn't solve the problem of their sensitive hearing.
@hartfire well said

Omg yes. They're pretty annoying and most years totally useless on New Year's Eve because there's almost always fog and if even if it isn't, they pollute the sky with fireworks so fast that you can't even see them well.

In a place where poppings were illegal, I'd punch holes in bottle rockets at the end with the charge. It would just sizzle and spark. At an angle, it even gave a little more lift.

Yes. They don't seem to bother our current dog, but they really stressed our last dog. We had to sedate her when fireworks were being used.

Yes mostly for my daughter she loves fireworks but the sound gets her upset. She trys so hard to not let it upset her. She even uses ear muffs and still struggles.

Yes, so many accidents happen at this time of the year because of sudden loud bangs. They frighten me too sometimes 🥺

Stayed inside when filming the fireworks from the 7th floor because I didn't want shocks by loud noises to disturb the record.

Not totally, but each one needs a solid-state internal timer so they go silent after 9 pm. 😁

Sure. As well as all those who have PTSD who get triggered by them
