Well, as many of the ancient civilizations thought it was round, like a globe...we know they were all idiots. So, it must be flat.

Science is based on perception, and perception is reality. It's not just your perception or my perception but everybody's perception combined into one "collective perception" of the Earth. On your own, you cannot see the Earth you are standing on. The astronaut can see the Earth but it is not the one he is standing on. So, your jumping into the air is based on the assumption that the astronaut's perception of the Earth is the one you are jumping from. Get it?
