Police state UK. Now, apparently it is a custodial crime to feed the pigeons in Trafalgar Square (London).

Indeed, I was innocently walking through the great expanse of Trafalgar Square and merrily conversing with the people gathered there, I also gave a poorly looking pigeon a crisp from my hearty bag of cheese and onion delicacy. All of a sudden I was surrounded at least two Police officers who grabbed the crisps out of my hand and then proceeded to drag me away.

I protested profusely, I said...'Yes' it is frowned upon to feed the pigeons, but when did it become illegal'?

The were taken aback by my intellectual response and I knew they knew that this was wrong but they were so 'brainwashed' by the 'man' that they came up with the excuse: 'We are not arresting you for feeding the pigeon, we are arresting you because you shoplifted the crisps and 4 cans of lager from the local 'Pret a Manger', you also urinated on the lion and you are not wearing any trousers'.

This is what they said, but I knew...and I know they knew that I knew they knew that I was simply arrested for feeding the pigeon....Police state UK...Thoughts and support please.

What is the world coming to when a gentleman can't disgrace himself in public! It's political correctness gone mad.

I know exactly what you mean it is getting to be more and more of a police state . They want to bring in a law to stop privacy on the internet so they can see everything people are saying and doing on the net . We have no privacy from big brother cctv every where and have a completely corrupt police force .
ArishMell · 70-79, M
@Rhode57 pardon???

Actually they are trying to make it hard for people who abuse the Internet by crime, bullying, inappropriate unsolicited messages and images to people, and such-like. And not before time.

If you want to send personal details don't do it on open fora!

"Big brother" CCTV? What - the cameras in the street where anyone can watch and indeed photograph anyone else anyway? If you are that worried don't do anything wrong or attention-seeking! Nor complain when some robber is caught thanks to a camera image: though I don't how effective they are as very few of those published in the papers are good enough to identify the individuals anyway.

Completely corrupt police? All umpteen thousand of them? Have you investigated them all?

A custodial sentence, if that is so, would be excessive where a heavy fine would be appropriate, but no-one should be feeding the pigeons, especially with food inappropriate or potentially harmful to the animals.
