I saw it once when I was a kid.
It just looked dumb and boring like they were trying to shove celebrities in our faces even more.
People acted all excited and I thought, "why is it such a big deal?"

Because society brainwashes you as kids to want what is popular.
It doesn't matter what it is. From fame to food, it's brainwashed into society.
Those type of shows are nothing more than popularity bench marks for those that are seeking even more popularity.

@DeWayfarer I never followed popular stuff unless it was something I was interested in anyway. My sister thought I wasn’t “cool”. So wanting something just because it’s popular is “cool”???

@cherokeepatti that for certain is one of my many reasons.
My initial reply is just more inclusive of all the reasons.

It used to be everyone knew the movies and had already watched them in the theaters. Everyone had their favorite. There was a curiosity to see how they'd make out with the Oscars.
Nowadays most people don't know the films until they're nominated. It's not very interesting watching an awards show for something you're unfamiliar with.

Maybe sometime will slap a comedian in the face and liven up the party at bit 😶
cherokeepatti · 61-69, F
@Classified That caused quite a stir last year.

@cherokeepatti I still don't want to know what exactly happened 😅

I rarely ever watch an awards shows. I find them boring and whatever it is, film, music, sport etc. they go on like it is the most important thing ever. Look it is important to them - Yes but to the rest of the world it's not really important. I just look through the winners to see if any of my favs got any thing. Disappointed Banshees of Inisherin didn't get anything - i thought that a brilliant film. But An Irish Goodbye won best short and is a great little film - so pleased for them.

None of it ever interests me. Though we all know it was impossible not to hear about will smith's slap last year

They are futile and if aliens witness such degeneracy they will invade/enslave/destroy us.
They're not even cool 😂
They're usually the lamest people

It can be over hyped for sure. But I was glad to see Brenden Fraser get recognition for Whale with an Oscar for Best Actor.
A poignant message about living with meaning. In the face of overwhelming struggle, loss, and regret.
His comedic roles belie an incredible talent for telling the stories of the human experience.

It’s self-aggrandizing hoopla to honor themselves, quite narcissistic isn’t it? Why wouldn’t it be boring?
DrWatson · 70-79, M
All that interests me ( somewhat) is the list posted the next day. The show is wayyyyyyy too long.

@TryingtoLava you mean will? Naw, you have to petty that man. He has a wife that doesn't respect nor love him.
@tacobell whaaattt!! Hes legend
tacobell · 26-30, M
@TryingtoLava what does that even mean if you have a wife that constantly tries to embarrass you for views and clicks. He destroyed his rep for someone who doesn't really care about him. It's pretty sad
